CONSTITUTION:A new stand is prepared by insetting a new rolling roll and by connecting a cable bearer 38; this new stand is put on the rails 33, 34 installed on one side of a turntable 3. A used stand 1 is released from the fixed state and is moved to the right along the rails 22, 23, by a stand driver 13; hereby, the used stadn 1 is transferred from the foundation 2 onto the rails 31, 32 installed on the table 3 and is stopped therein. The table 3 is then 180 deg. turned in the arrowed direction by a table driver 4, and is stopped when the rails 33, 34 are aligned with the rails 22, 23 installed upon the foundation 2. The new stand is then moved to the left, is transferred onto the rails 22, 23, and is stopped and fixed therein.

    • PURPOSE:To shorten the time requirement of the exchanging work, by moving a couple of disk shoes parallelly outward, by alternately turning a couple of holding devices so as to face to the disk shoe, and by replacing the old disk shoe with a new one. CONSTITUTION:The chocks 23, 24 are parellelly moved outward as far as a distance l by clinders 31, 32 and screws 33, 34. Holding devices 41, 42 on one side are theta1, theta2 turned to positions opposite the disk shoes 21b, 22b. A holder 45 is lifted up by a cylinder 44 of the holding device 42, the disk shoe 22b is detached by a detaching machine 47, the holder 45 is then brought down, and then, the holding device 42 is again theta2 turned so as to turn to the initial position. A holding device on another side provided with a new disk shoe 22c is theta4 turned so as to make the new disk shoe 22c face to the main shaft 26; then, the holder is lifted up, the new disk shoe 22c is set to the main shaft 26 by the detaching machine, and the holder is brought down. Then the chock 24 is again parallelly moved inward as far as the distance l, and the new disk shoe 22c is mounted on the normal position.

    • PURPOSE: To simultaneously exchange an old inlet guide and an old pusher head with new ones in order to shorten the time requirement of the exchanging work, by moving forward and backward a combination of an inlet guide and a pusher head placed upon a moving table.
      CONSTITUTION: At exchanging an old inlet guide and an old pusher head with new ones, the pusher head 6 is moved forward and is inserted into the inlet guide 1. A cylinder 26 is then actuated for turning a stator 24 around its axis, a connector 15 is turned counterclockwise, an a tip protuberance is inserted through a hole 14 of the inlet guide 1 into the gap between flanges 61, 62 of the pusher head 6; then, the inlet guide 1 is connected to the pusher head 6. The pusher head 6 is then withdrawn so as to push the inlet guide 1 onto a moving table 71 installed upon a base stand 7. Meanwhile, combinations of inle guides 1a, 1b, 1c and pusher heads 6a, 6b, 6c in the same or dissimilar outer diameters are prepared on the moving table 71; the moving table 71 is then moved so as to align a desired combination of an inlet guide and a pusher hed with the level of a chain conveyer 64. Then the combination is pushed forward by a cylinder 72; the combination together with the chain conveyer 64 are moved forward; the inlet guide is brought into a prescribed position in the mill's main body 2; then, the inlet guide and the pusher head are exchanged with old ones.

    • PURPOSE:To quench a pipe uniformly and assurely by a small-type device, by a method wherein cooling water is forcibly passed on the inside and outside surfaces of a pipe while moving the pipe in the longitudinal direction to cool the pipe uniformly. CONSTITUTION:The pipe 4 to be quenched is fed into an outer cylinder 11 via a door 12 by a roller table 15, and the door 12 is closed. The pipe 4 is moved forward while cooling the outside surface of the pipe 4 by jetting cooling water from each nozzle 13 provided for the outer cylinder 11. In addition, cooling water is jetted also from a movable nozzle 19 fitted into the leading end part of the pipe 4, thereby forcibly cooling the inside surface of the pipe 4. By rotating a sprocket 16, the nozzle 19 is moved leftward at the same speed as the conveying speed for the pipe 4 while jetting the cooling water from the nozzle 19. When the nozzle 19 reaches the position of a sprocket 17, it is turned along the sprocket 17 so that it is disengaged from the pipe 4, while the latter 4 is fed by the roller table 15 and is taken out to the exterior of the outer cylinder 11. Then, the nozzle 19 is returned to the initial position and is stopped in situ.

Whereas, a grip 7b of a thrust block 6b, arranged on the side of the rear end of the mandrel bar 4, is opened; a shell 3 is then axially taken into a prescribed position between these two blocks 6a, 6b by carrier rollers 8 so as to surround the bar 4 with the shell 3. The grip 7b is then closed to grasp the bar 4, and the grip 7a is opened; under this condition, the shell 3 is fed into the rolling mill 1, and the outer surface of the shell 3 is rolled by the rolling rolls according to a method similar to the conventional method, and a seamless steel pipe is manufactured.
