    • PURPOSE:To control the size of a sheet thickness with good accuracy by backing up and bending work rolls by the high-pressure fluid injected from backup nozzles and controlling the pressure of the high-pressure fluid. CONSTITUTION:The spacing between the upper and lower work rolls 11 and 12 is set in the stage of rolling a thin sheet 10 fed from a temp. controller B. The backup nozzles 23, 24 are also vertically moved in this stage while the spacings from the rolls 11, 12 are maintained. The work rolls 11, 12 are respectively pressurized by the backup rolls 13, 15 in the case of rolling the thin sheet 10 by the work rolls 11, 12. The high-pressure water is at the same time forced into the backup nozzles 23, 24 so that the high-pressure water is injected from injection holes 25, 28 to the rolls 11, 12 respectively. The sheet thickness size in the transverse direction of the rolled sheet 10 is measured by a sheet thickness control device and the pressure of the high-pressure water, i.e., the bending rate of the respective rolls 11, 12 is adjusted by which the size of the sheet thickness is accurately controlled.

CONSTITUTION:The sealing space 14 is formed of the box bodies 8, 8' having the labyrinth seals on the opposed surfaces of a pair of the horizontally and parallel disposed drums 1, 1' an ingot 3, the above-mentioned drums 1, 1', the ingot 3 and side sealing plates (not shown) in a twin drum type continuous casting machine for a thin sheet which yields the ingot 3 by rotating the drums 1, 1', cooling the molten metal in the space therebetween and joining the solidified shells formed on the surfaces of the drums 1, 1'. the pressure in the above- mentioned space 14 is fed as a pressure signal 10 back to a valve 11 which supplies the gas such as Ar or N2 from a gas supply source 12 via the above- mentioned box bodies 8, 8' to the space 14, thereby balancing the pressure in the sealing space with the static pressure up to a molten steel level 15.

    • PURPOSE:To make possible the high-speed casting of a slab having a stable shape by inserting hoops into the contact parts between long-side belts and short-side belts constituting a casting mold and driving synchronously the long- side belts, short-side belts and hoops. CONSTITUTION:The long sides and short sides of the casting mold in a belt type continuous casting machine for a slab are respectively constituted of the long-side belts 2' and short-side belts 12. The belts 12 are supported by ribs 14 of stationary guides 13 from the rear side. On the other hand, the long-side belts 2' are held and slid between stationary retaining blocks 11 and the above- mentioned guides 13 at both side ends thereof. The hoops 15 each having an angle shape, etc. are inserted into the contact parts of the belts 2', 12, then the belts 2', the belts 12 and the hoops 15 are synchronously driven. The metal penetration to the above-mentioned contact parts is prevented by the hoops 15 drawn together with the slab, by which the shape of the slab is made stable and the sliding of the slab with the synchronously driven belts 2' and belts 12 is averted. The high-speed continuous casting is thus made possible.

    • PURPOSE:To produce safely a continuously cast slab at a high speed by using side endless belts which have water cooing devices and move at the same speed along stationary guides for the closed members on both sides of endless traveling belts in a belt type continuous casting machine for the slab. CONSTITUTION:A molten steel is poured into the space 1 constituted of a pair of the endless belts 2, 2 for casting and the side blocks 9 disposed to the end parts of both side faces thereof in the belt type continuous casting device. The molten steel is water-cooled to solidify by cooling water nozzles 7 by which the continuously cast slab is produced. The side blocks in such a case are constituted of the endless belts 12 which are made of the same material as the material of the belts 2 and are supported on the rear side by the stationary guides 13 having ribs 14 and form cooling water passages. The belts 12 move in the same direction at the same speed as the speed of the belt 2 and are water-cooled from the rear side as well and therefore the continuously cast slab 1 is safely cast continuously without the generation of a breakout accident by flash, etc.

    • PURPOSE:To produce slabs having a desired width at a good yield and high speed by producing a broad and thin walled slab by a drum type continuous casting method and cutting online the slab to plural pieces in the transverse direction. CONSTITUTION:The slab 4 which is formed between drums 1, 1 and side gates 2 and is supported by guide roll 6 groups is parted to plural pieces of slab products 8 in a drum type continuous casting method for producing thin steel sheets. The slab 4 is produced by using about 8m broad drums as compared to ordinary about 2m drums. End parts 9 are removed by the prescribed width in the stage of parting the slab by cutters 7. The high-speed production of the slabs having the desired width at a good yield is thus made possible.
