    • PURPOSE:To obtain flashless parts with small pressurizing force by heating a base metal having a specified weight to the temp. between the solidification initiation temp. and solidification end temp. to melt the same into a half-molten state then molding under the pressure such metal by a plunger die penetrating through an upper die or lower die. CONSTITUTION:A round bar consisting of, for example, C8AS (secondary Al alloy base metal for casting) as a stock base metal 5 for molding is charged into a base metal heater 1 and is heated to the half-molten state. The half- molten base metal 7 is then loaded into the lower die 6 which is mated with the upper die 8 operating cooperatively with the plunger die 9. The metal 7 is pressurized by the die 9 to mold a product 11 having a desired shape. The pressurization in this state is executed until the metal 7 is thoroughly solidified. The die 8 and the plunger die are opened upward and the product 11 is taken out. In the figure, 2 denotes a high-frequency heating coil and 3 the refractory material packed around the coil 2.

    • PURPOSE: To obtain an Ni.Al bronze casting having high corrosion fatigue strength in seawater by charging a molten Cu alloy contg. prescribed percentages of Al, Ni, Fe and Mn into a casting mold, solidifying it, cooling rapidly the solidified alloy at once, and holding it at a prescribed temp.
      CONSTITUTION: A molten alloy consisting of 9W11% Al, 4W8% Ni, 4W8% Fe, ≤4% Mn and the balance Cu with ordinary impurities is charged into a casting mold and solidified. The solidified alloy is rapidly cooled at once by water cooling, oil quenching, spray quenching or air cooling to convert an intermetallic compound consisting of Al, Ni and Fe into a solid soln. in the matrix. The alloy is then held at 600W700°C for ≥20hr. The intermetallic compound is uniformly deposited by the holding, and an Al.Ni bronze casting having higher mechanical properties and corrosion fatigue strength than a conventional material and useful as machine parts used in the sea is obtd.
