    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid long time interruption of failure diagnosis by an arrangement wherein a control section counts duration of an operating condition where failure diagnosis is not conducted and resetting a normal mode or safety operation when the reset timing from a failure diagnosis mode to a normal mode is counted up. SOLUTION: Type selection of a hot water supply apparatus 1 to be diagnosed at the time of rising a system is displayed at a display section 310 and a program for regulating the subsequent failure diagnostic operation is selected. A failure diagnostic unit 3 notifies the control section 4 of the hot water supply apparatus 1 that a diagnostic operation is started, i.e., delivers an operational command for switching to failure diagnostic mode to the hot water supply apparatus 1. At the time of failure diagnostic mode, a timer means 41 at the control section 4 operates in conjunction with a reset signal transmitting means 350 to time the resetting to normal mode. Dangerous condition can be avoided by displaying a selection screen for diagnosing specified parts of the hot water supply apparatus 1 individually or diagnosing all parts automatically.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize automatic regulation of a gas proportional valve at the time of maintenance or repair in a gas proportional valve regulating device for a hot water heater. SOLUTION: A gas proportional valve regulating device comprises a gas proportional valve 29, a rewritable memory for storing information on the minimum amount of combustion and the maximum amount of combustion regulated by the gas proportional valve, and a control unit 4 for controlling the amount of a supplied gas by regulating the valve travel of the gas proportional valve according to the distinctive qualities which are determined on the basis of the information stored in the memory. At the time of regulating the gas proportional valve, the control unit controls the controlled variable of the gas proportional valve so that the contents of detection by a gas pressure detecting means 40 show a given minimum gas pressure which corresponds to the minimum combustion amount, thereby rewriting the memory with the information on the controlled variable as information concerning the minimum combustion amount, and the control unit further controls the controlled variable of the gas proportional valve so that the contents of detection show a given maximum gas pressure which corresponds to the maximum combustion amount, thereby rewriting the memory with the information on the controlled variable as information concerning the maximum combustion amount.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a secondary gas pressure adjustor which enables easy and accurate adjustment of a secondary gas pressure of a water heater as compared with the conventional type by reducing manipulating locations. SOLUTION: In a water heater which is provided with a proportional valve 29 to adjust a secondary gas pressure of a gas for combustion according to the target combustion quantity of a burner 7, a non-volatile memory element 41 in which a relationship between the travel of the proportional valve 29 and the secondary gas pressure is stored as gas pressure set information, and a control part 4 which adjusts the travel of the proportional valve 29 to attain the target combustion quantity based on the gas pressure set information, a secondary gas pressure detection means 2 is provided to detect a gas pressure on the downstream side of the proportional valve 29 and a gas pressure setting information rewriting means 350 is provided to send a command to the control part 4 to perform an operation at a specified secondary gas pressure while giving a command of rewriting the gas pressure set information stored in the non-volatile memory element 41 when an actual secondary gas pressure detected by a secondary gas pressure detection means 2 is compared with an initially set specified secondary gas pressure and noncoincidence is found between the value of the actual secondary gas pressure and the specified gas pressure.
