    • PURPOSE:To simplify structure and improve durability by installing a set ball and a slide collar which slides at the positions where the set ball is held and not held. CONSTITUTION:A set ball 8 is accommodated into the opposed member 2 of a shaft 6, and a part of the set ball 8 is projected from a groove 10, and the slip- off of the shaft 6 from the opposed member 2 is prevented. A slide collar 14 which slides on the opposed member 2 is installed at the positions where the set ball 8 is set and is not set. A spring ring 26 which presses the set ball 8 in the direction of axis center when the slide collar 14 is at the ball holding position is installed, and an inclined surface 24 is formed at the part of the opposed member 2 where the spring ring 26 slides. With such constitution, structure can be simplified, and durability can be improved.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain simple connection between a shaft and a mating member mutually slidable and non-rotatable by selectively positioning a set ball for preventing falling of the shaft out of the mating member at the retaining position and non-retaining position with respect to the shaft. CONSTITUTION:There are provided a shaft 6 and a mating member or yoke 2 which are fitted one on the other mutually slidably in the axial direction and relatively non-rotatably. A set ball 8 is received in the yoke 2 and partially protrudes in a groove 10 of the shaft 6 to prevent falling of the shaft 6 out of the yoke 2. A slide collar 14 is slidingly movable on the yoke 2 between the position where the set ball 9 partially protrudes in the groove 10 is retained and the position where the set ball 9 is not retained, and the slide colloar 14 has at one end thereof a stopper 22 for preventing falling thereof. The yoke 2 has on the sliding surface a groove 24 for receiving a spring ring 26 which is adapted for normally urging the slide collar 14 outwardly. This permits easy engagement and disengagement of the shaft 6 with respect to the yoke 2.
