摘要： PURPOSE:To accurately observe whether the alignment state of optical fibers is proper or not and to improve the observation accuracy by setting a microscope in focus on the ridge part atop a mirror plate. CONSTITUTION:Two optical fiber mount bases 5A and 5B face each other at an interval and the mirror plate 6 is equipped with two mirror surface parts 8A and 8B which slant downward from the ridge part 7 of the top to both sides of the ridge part 7. The mirror plate 6 is interposed between the adjacent parts of both optical fiber mount bases 5A and 5b, and while the end parts 3A and 3B of a couple of optical fibers are arranged on the respective optical fiber mount bases opposite each other, the images of the end surfaces 4A and 4B of those optical fibers are projected on both mirror surface parts 8A and 8B of the mirror plate 6 respectively; and the optical fiber end surface images (a) and (b) projected on both mirror surface parts 8A and 8B are brought into contact with the ridge part 7 of the mirror plate 6, and the relative position between the couple of optical fiber is observed based on the optical fiber end surface images (a) and (b) contacting the ridge part 7. Consequently, whether or not the alignment state is proper is precisely observed in both a vertical and a horizontal directions simultaneously.

摘要： PURPOSE:To stabilize a slip function and to improve the fusion splicing of a core end surface by clamping an optical fiber by a fixed contact piece and a movable contact piece which is energized by a spring on two slide blocks. CONSTITUTION:Two couples of clamping members 141-144 are stood on the blocks 12 and 13 arrayed on a pedestal 11 in a slipping state; and the fixed contact piece 15 is provided on the block 12 and the movable pressing contact piece 16 which is energized by the spring 17 is provided on the block 13. The optical fiber 7 is slipped in between the clamping members 14 and a core end part 9 is fused to the opposite end part. At this time, the force for pressing the fiber 7 is set larger than the frictional force between the pedestal 11 and blocks 12 and 13 and the frictional force between the member 14 and contact pieces 15 and 16. Therefore, even when the external diameter of the fiber 7 is slightly different, the abutting force of the fiber end parts is made invariably contact by slipping and the fusing operation is performed excellently.

摘要： PURPOSE:To surely connect optical cables to each other with a simple operation and to simplify an exchange operation by screwing lock bolts having holes to be inserted with the exposed cores of optical fibers into screw grooves bored to the inside wall surfaces in the apertures at the ends of ferrule housing chambers and acting axial pressing forces thereon by means of springs. CONSTITUTION:The optical cables A, A to be connected are led to shell bodies 13, 13 and the optical fiber cores are led out of the terminals of the optical cables A, A. Metallic anchoring fittings 17 are then attached to tension members (b). Ferrules are attached to the respective terminals of the exposed cores (a) of the optical fibers and are inserted into the respective ferrule housing chambers 2 of a housing 1 so as to project the top ends thereof. The lock bolts 11 are screwed into the screw grooves 5 of the chambers 2 and the axial pressing force is acted to the ferrules 6 by means of the spring 10. The cables A, A are thereafter pushed back into the shell bodies 13, 13 and the fittings 17 are detained to the step parts formed between the holes 14 to be inserted with the optical cables and surplus length housing holes 15. The housing 1 is housed and fixed into a housing fitting hole 16 and the shell bodies 13, 13 are tightened and connected to each other by means of a lock nut 18.

CONSTITUTION:A coat layer 3 is removed from the end part of the SM optical fiber core 1 to expose a naked SM optical fiber strand 4. Then, the capillary 5 is engaged and fixed with/on the outer periphery of the exposed naked SM optical fiber strand 4, the fitting part of the capillary 5 is heated and the heated part is extended to unitely form the diameter-thinned parts 4A, 5A of the strand 4 and the capillary 5. Then, the diameter-thinned parts 4A, 5As are cut off at the intermediate part and the point side is removed. Consequently, the capillary 5 can be replaced without the damage of the diameter-thinned part 4A and the connection loss can be reduced.

The connector connection part 41 is provided on a substrate 1 and consists of a connector stand 42, connector fitting plate 43, and adapter 44. If a fault occurs, connectors are detached, and consequently it is judged whether the fault occurs to the optical fiber side or at the wiring optical cord side. When an optical fiber end part 2A is moved toward the mathcing liquid 7, the quantity of light incident to an optical fiber 1B increases finely as the optical fiber end surface 3A approaches to the matching liquid 7 and the quantity of photodetection of the optical fiber 1B increases abruptly when the optical fiber end surface 3A contacts the matching liquid 7. At this time, both optical fiber end surfaces 3A and 3B form a set end surface interval at their stop positions.
