    • PURPOSE:To accurately observe whether the alignment state of optical fibers is proper or not and to improve the observation accuracy by setting a microscope in focus on the ridge part atop a mirror plate. CONSTITUTION:Two optical fiber mount bases 5A and 5B face each other at an interval and the mirror plate 6 is equipped with two mirror surface parts 8A and 8B which slant downward from the ridge part 7 of the top to both sides of the ridge part 7. The mirror plate 6 is interposed between the adjacent parts of both optical fiber mount bases 5A and 5b, and while the end parts 3A and 3B of a couple of optical fibers are arranged on the respective optical fiber mount bases opposite each other, the images of the end surfaces 4A and 4B of those optical fibers are projected on both mirror surface parts 8A and 8B of the mirror plate 6 respectively; and the optical fiber end surface images (a) and (b) projected on both mirror surface parts 8A and 8B are brought into contact with the ridge part 7 of the mirror plate 6, and the relative position between the couple of optical fiber is observed based on the optical fiber end surface images (a) and (b) contacting the ridge part 7. Consequently, whether or not the alignment state is proper is precisely observed in both a vertical and a horizontal directions simultaneously.

    • PURPOSE:To surely connect optical cables to each other with a simple operation and to simplify an exchange operation by screwing lock bolts having holes to be inserted with the exposed cores of optical fibers into screw grooves bored to the inside wall surfaces in the apertures at the ends of ferrule housing chambers and acting axial pressing forces thereon by means of springs. CONSTITUTION:The optical cables A, A to be connected are led to shell bodies 13, 13 and the optical fiber cores are led out of the terminals of the optical cables A, A. Metallic anchoring fittings 17 are then attached to tension members (b). Ferrules are attached to the respective terminals of the exposed cores (a) of the optical fibers and are inserted into the respective ferrule housing chambers 2 of a housing 1 so as to project the top ends thereof. The lock bolts 11 are screwed into the screw grooves 5 of the chambers 2 and the axial pressing force is acted to the ferrules 6 by means of the spring 10. The cables A, A are thereafter pushed back into the shell bodies 13, 13 and the fittings 17 are detained to the step parts formed between the holes 14 to be inserted with the optical cables and surplus length housing holes 15. The housing 1 is housed and fixed into a housing fitting hole 16 and the shell bodies 13, 13 are tightened and connected to each other by means of a lock nut 18.
