    • PURPOSE:To make the detection of an electrical insulating spot possible by providing a pair of transmitting coils longitudinally in parallel with a space taken so that the direction of a magnetic pole may be a negative phase, and executing detection at a position where a receiving coil approachs the transmitting coil. CONSTITUTION:A pair of transmitting coils 2, 2 connected in series is longitudinally provided at an interval taken so that the direction of a magnetic pole may be a negative phase, and a receiving coil 3 is provided in a lateral direction crossing the arranging direction of the transmitting coils 2, 2 at right angles and moreover longitudinally in parallel. In the case where the electrical insulating spot of the insulating coupling of a buried pipe 11 is detected by a detector 10, measuring lines rectangular to an axial direction are set up at plural positions along the assumed axial direction of the pipe 11. The device 10 is moved in a state where in each measuring line, each arranging direction of the transmitting coils 2, 2 crosses the assumed axial direction at a right angle for measuring. The strength of a detected magnetic field is maximum when the pipe 11 takes a position just above the pipe 11. In addition, when the peak value of the strength of the detected magnetic field is displayed to the axial direction of the pipe 11, it becomes minimum at the spot of the insulating coupling, and the position of the insulating coupling can thereby be detected.

    • PURPOSE:To enable the diagnosing of a defect of a sample pipe at a high accuracy by making an AC signal with a phase and an amplitude preset overlap a received signal to be outputted from a receiving coil to prevent the generation of an abnormal flaw detection data. CONSTITUTION:An excitation signal f0 is applied to an excitation coil EC to generate received signals f1-f9 in receiving coils RC1-RC9, a noise of the same phase and a high frequency component are removed with a differential amplifier 7 of received signal interfaces RB1-RB9 and LPF8 and the results are applied to an adder 11. On the other hand, the signal f0 is applied to an addition terminal RT1 of addition signal processing modules RCC1-RCC9 and attenuated with an attenuator 5 of addition signal generation modules RA1-RA9. A phase angle is set 6, for example, at 15, an addition signal delayed in the phase angle by 15 is applied to a received signal modules RQ1-RQ9 to be added 11 to the signals f1-f9 applied previously and a noise is removed to send the results to a phase comparator 13 being kept at a fixed level. This enables stable phase detection thereby outputting a normal flaw detection data to a flaw detection data terminal RT5.

    • PURPOSE:To improve detecting sensitivity and to enable execution of operation for a long time by means of a battery by a method wherein the core of a coil is incorporated in a bit so that the occurrence of offset owing to an over current at a bit is reduced. CONSTITUTION:A core rod 6 is arranged in a bit 1 in a manner to extend obliquely sideways from the tip side, and coils 12a and 12b forming the constituting element of a metal detecting circuit are arranged around the core rod 6. The one end side of the core rod 6 is exposed to a notch part 4 exposed to the tip side of the bit 1 and the other end side thereof is exposed to a notch part 4 formed to the side of the bit 1. An electric wire 13 from the coils 12a and 12b is connected to the metal detecting circuit located in the rear. In operation, the bit 1 is pushed simultaneously with rotation by means of a rod 2 and a ground is excavated. In this case, when the detecting circuit is operated, a magnetic flux generated by means of the coils 12a and 12b flows through the core rod 6 and leaks from the two end sides thereof. When the bit approaches an embedded substance made of a metal, an over current is generated to bring a bridge circuit into an unbalancing state, and a comparator announces an alarm.
