      SOLUTION: This air-fuel ratio control device 1 is an air-fuel ratio control device of the internal combustion engine having a main engine 10, a sub-engine 20, an exhaust pipe 170 having a gathering part 180 for gathering exhaust gas of the main engine 10 and the sub-engine 20, and the exhaust emission control catalyst 40 arranged downstream of the gathering part 180; and has a catalyst temperature sensor 41 for detecting the temperature of the exhaust emission control catalyst 40, an air-fuel ratio sensor 42 for detecting the air-fuel ratio of the main engine 10, and an engine ECU 50 for controlling the air-fuel ratio of the sub-engine 20 in stoichiometric or rich when the air fuel ratio of the main engine 10 is rich and controlling the air-fuel ratio of the sub-engine 20 in stoichiometric or lean when the air-fuel ratio of the main engine 10 is lean, when the catalyst temperature is the predetermined temperature or more.

    • PURPOSE: To establish effective utilization of a fuel by controlling the revolving speeds of a plurality of engines, which share the power dispersedly, individually so that the rate of fuel consumption minimizes according to the load which the train requires. CONSTITUTION: The control line includes a main control device 8 and a dispersive control device 9 for each of a plurality of engines. The main control device 8 is fed with a command of a trunk controller 6 for the engine control and the conditions of a velocity type power generator 10 and the applicable engine (the condition of the engine to be fed through a communication line 11) and judges which engine should be operated with how heavy a load. The command applicable is transmitted to the dispersive control device 9 through the communication line 11. That control device 9 which has received the command gives specified commands to a solenoid valve 5 for controlling a liquid type transmission and a fuel control device 4. The control command is made to the engines individually upon judging the size of the power which the train requires at that time to be passed upon the rail-car train total basis.
