    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To limit an increase in size of an internal combustion engine even if both a rotation phase difference adjustment mechanism and a lift amount adjustment mechanism using 3-D cam are used together. SOLUTION: This variable valve timing unit 10 is provided with a housing 64, a separate plate 66 which separates the housing 64 into two chambers 64a and 64b, a piston 70 which moves a camshaft 22 on the intake side in the rotational axial direction with respect to the housing 64 in the first operation chamber 64a, and a vane rotor 150 which rotates the camshaft 22 on the intake side with respect to the housing 64 in the second operation chamber 64b. Accordingly, the housing 64 is shared by a lift amount variable actuator 10b and a rotation phase difference variable actuator 10c. Thus the entire unit is made smaller compared to when the actuators 10b and 10c are independently provided, thereby preventing an increase in size of the internal combustion engine.

    • PURPOSE:To improve welding efficiency by facilitating handling of 2 welding torch when respective pipes are welded to a collecting case in an exhaust manifold wherein the downstream ends of a plurality of pipes are connected to the collecting case. CONSTITUTION:The upstream ends 6a of a plurality of pipes 6 facing to the number of exhaust ports 3 are connected to an engine main body 1 through a flange 8, so as to be communicated with respective exhaust ports 3. The downstream ends 6b of respective pipes 6 are inserted into respective opening holes 9 formed on a flat plate 7, so as to be joined perpendicular to the flat plate 7 by welding. The pipe structural body is composed of the flange 8, respective pipes 6 and the flat plate 7, and the flat plate 7 is connected to an upstream side opening part 12a of an outer cylinder 12 by welding in the state of the pipe structural body. Accordingly, respective pipes 6 are approximately parallely connected to each other and arranged because the joint part of respective pipes 6 to the flat plate 7 is a flat surface, thereby a welding torch can be easily handle when welding is performed from the inner surface side of the flat plate 7.
