    • PURPOSE:To obtain a molten iron from iron ore and coal with a compact installation at high equipment productivity and labor productivity by charging moldings formed by compression molding of the resulted product of preliminary reduction in a fluidized bed reaction furnace to a flake form into a melt reduction furnace and subjecting the moldings to melt reduction. CONSTITUTION:The preheated iron ore 101 and coal 103 are charged into the fluidized bed reaction furnace 2 and an oxygen-contg. gas 105 is blown therein to char 109 the coal 103. On the other hand, a reducing gas 106 generated in the melt reduction furnace (top and bottom blown converter type reaction vessel) 9 is blown into the furnace 2 to reduce the high-temp. ore 101 in a fluidized state to form the preliminarily reduced ore 108. The ore 108, char 109, etc., are once stored in a bunker 4 and are mixed and agitated with the coal 103, etc., supplied from another line and stored in a bunker 5 by a screw feeder 8 according to the feeding of said coal, etc. The mixture is then molded to the flaky compression moldings 112 by molding rolls 3. The moldings are charged by a charger 12 into the above-mentioned furnace 9 by which the moldings are subjected to the melt reduction.
