    • PURPOSE: To enhance the chipping resistance, corrosion-proofness and finishing feeling of a paint film, by successively performing cation electrodeposition painting, corrosion-proof pigment-containing barrier coat painting and powder top coat painting, which is performed through a liquid paint, if necessary, to a steel plate.
      CONSTITUTION: In painting a steel plate constituting a car body, a cationic electrodeposition paint is applied at first so that the water absorbancy of the formed film is 0.3W20 wt.%. Next, a barrier coat, which is based on a modified polyolefinic resin forming a paint film having static glass transition temp. of -30W-60°C and corrosion-proof pigment and compounded with an org. solvent, if necessary, is applied to the electrodeposition coating surface. Thereafter, top coat painting using a thermosetting powder paint is performed to the barrier coat surface but finishing is performed by interposing a solid color or metallic liquid paint on the basis of the presence of the compounding of color pigment.

Thereby the dissidence in tone of both the members is solved and the coated film excellent in physical properties of resistance to chipping and corrosion resistance is obtained.
