CONSTITUTION:The plural apertures 34b for passing the cooling water between the large-diameter water rods 22 and 23 formed in a 1st region 33b around the large-diameter water rods 22, 23 of the lower tie plate 25 are designated as the 1st apertures for the cooling water passage and the plural apertures 34a formed in a 2nd region 33a around fuel rods 21 of the lower tie plate 25 are designated as the 2nd apertures for cooling water passage. The 1st and 2nd apertures for cooling water passage are then so formed that the coefft. of pressure drop in the 1st apertures for cooling water passage is larger than the coefft. of pressure drop in the 2nd apertures for cooling water passage. The pressure drop viewed in the axial line direction of the fuel assembly is balanced between the water rods and the fuel rods as well as between the fuel rods and the concentration of the cooling water around the central water rods is prevented. The thermal stability of the peripheral fuel rods is thus improved.

    • PURPOSE:To improve fuel economy while simplifying the holding of a fuel and easing the manufacture of a water rod by forming the lateral sectional form of one of two water rods adjacently arranged of two circular arcs. CONSTITUTION:An upper and a lower tie plates hold the upper and the lower end parts of fuel rods 2. Seventy four fuel rods 2 are arranged on 9 longitudinal lines to 9 lateral lines and intervals are held by fuel spacers. Two water rods 6, 7 are arranged on a diagonal line which connects the corner part Y1 of a fuel assembly 1 and the corner part Y2 facing thereto. The lateral sectional form of water rod 6 is made in a circle of radius of R1 (a half of diameter of the water rod 6). The water rod 6 is formed of two circular arcs in lateral sectional form, namely, made in circular arc forms A1, A2, the circular arc A2 of shorter length penetrating the center of the A1. Therefore, the holding of the fuel spacers by the water rods can easily be performed while the whole lateral sectional area of the water rod arranged in the central part of its lateral sectional area is enlarged and the fuel economy can be improved.
