    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means to effect accurate detection of abnormality of a fuel injection system even when a fuel pressure is fluctuated in a wide range. SOLUTION: High pressure fuel is fed with a pressure from a high pressure fuel injection pump 5 to a common rail 3 and fuel is fed to each fuel injection valve 1 from the common rail. A control circuit (ECU) 20 detects a common rail pressure by a fuel pressure sensor 31 and calculates pressure fluctuation actual measurement values before and after injection of fuel and pressure fluctuation actual measurement values before and after the forced feed of fuel. Further, the ECU 20 calculates presser fluctuation estimated values before and after injection of fuel and pressure fluctuation estimated values before and after the forced feed of fuel based on a fuel injection command value and a fuel force feed amount command value. Further, the ECU 20 calculates a first abnormal decision amount from an actual measurement value and pressure fluctuation estimated values before and after injection of fuel and a second abnormality decision amount from an actual measurement value and pressure fluctuation estimated values before and after injection of fuel, respectively and decides the occurrence of abnormality to a fuel injection system by using both first and second abnormality decision amounts.
