    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a diesel engine capable of inhibiting fuel used also as lubrication oil from spurting or leaking to the outside of the engine.
      SOLUTION: The diesel engine (1) comprises a fuel supply path (4) for supplying the fuel from a fuel tank (2) to an oil pan (3) with an electric supply pump (6), a lubrication system fuel supply path (8) for supplying the fuel from the oil pan (3) to an engine lubrication system (7) with a lubrication pump (10), and an injection system fuel supply path (13) for supplying the fuel from the oil pan (3) to an injection system (12) with an injection pump (15). The fuel to the oil pan (3) is supplied only from the fuel tank (2). A head cover (21) installed on a cylinder head part (20) has a part (22) closely contacted with the cylinder head part (20) as a single seal part.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lay out injection system parts arranged in an injection system fuel communication passage by employing double use of fuel such as light oil, etc., as lubricating oil and fuel.
      SOLUTION: An engine (1) is provided with lubricating system fuel communication passages (8 and 11) to communicate fuel into an engine lubrication system (7) as a lubricating agent, and injection system fuel communication passages (13 and 16) to allow flow of fuel into an injection system (12). Injection parts arranged in the injection system fuel communication passages (13 and 16), i.e., a common rail (12a), an injector (12b), an injection pump (15), and a feed pump (6), etc., are stored in a range (19) formed by an engine block assembled by interposing a seal member and an engine head. The fuel leaking out of the parts stored in the range (19) acts on the lubricating system (7) as the lubricating agent, so that trouble is not caused in the engine (1).
