摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obviate initialization of a valve system in engine starting, and reduce electric power consumption by arranging a stopper for holding intake/ exhaust valves in an almost valve closing state against a valve opening side spring member in a valve system for electromagnetically opening/closing the intake/exhaust valves by cooperation of electromagnets and spring members. SOLUTION: A stopper 12 is arranged to hold a valve element 1 in an almost valve closing state against energizing force of a coil spring 7 by engaging with either one of a spring seat 9 of the valve opening side coil spring 7, a spring shaft 9a, an armature 4, an armature shaft 4a or a valve stem 1a, for example, the under surface of the spring sheet 9 in a state where the valve element 1 of a valve system 2 is closed once at enging stopping time. That is, the stopper 12 is fixed to the lower end of a rotary shaft 13, and this stopper 12 is arranged so as to be rotatable to a lock position for engaging with the under surface of the spring seat 9 and a lock release position dislocated from the under surface of the spring seat 9 through the rotary shaft 13 by actuation of a driving means 14.

摘要： PURPOSE:To adjust a valve clearance with high precision and measure certainly valve timing by finding out opening timing of a valve by the change rate of air, and also detecting directly the phase angle of a cam shaft. CONSTITUTION:When the change rate of air pressure at the time of lowering a valve 5 by an adjusting screw 11 reaches a prescribed value, the adjusting screw 11 is returned for prescribed rate, and then a lock nut 15 is fastened, so that adjusting of a valve clearance is thus carried out. Since no influence is given even if a few air leakage is generated in an initial condition at the time of closing the valve 5, it is possible to detect certainly the opening timing of the valve 5 so as to carry out adjusting without dispersion with high precision. Valve timing is found out on the basis of the signal from the phase angle detecting means 81 of a cam shaft 6, and the signal from displacement sensor 89 in response to vertical motion of the valve 5. It is thus possible to reduce the number of interposing parts so at to carry out adjusting with high precision, since the phase angle of the cam shaft 6 is detected directly.
