    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting method which effectively removes cutting chips from the surroundings of a cutting point with small consumption of electric power, and carries out a highly accurate cutting operation to a workpiece. SOLUTION: In a ball end mill 1, a slit shape opening portion 12 is formed on the portion in the neighborhood of the rake face S of a cutting edge 5, and a suction passage 7 is formed therein. The tilted surface of the workpiece having preliminarily applied oil thereon is cut using the ball end mill 1 while sucking the surroundings of the cutting edge from the opening portion via the suction passage. When the surroundings of the cutting edge are sucked from the opening portion, the decreasing rate of the cutting power becomes higher compared with the case where the surroundings of the cutting blade are not sucked.
