    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an opaque reflective photographic material with a mordant coated on the non-image side in an amount enough to absorb a photographic material dye as a cause of contamination of a final image during washing, e.g. a photographic printing paper.
      SOLUTION: The mordant is a quaternary nitrogen-containing compound, preferably a quaternized vinylimidazole polymer or a vinylbenzylammonium compound. The mordant can be coated at a lay-down of 100-400 mg/ft
      2 , preferably 150-300 mg/ft
      2 . The resulting coating preferably includes a binder such as gelatin. The product of this invention can be produced by coating the non- image side of a photographic material with an aqueous composition containing the mordant and a binder using known methods.

The nonphotosensitive silver salt is formed by simultaneously adding and mixing a previously prepd. aq. soln. of silver nitrate and a previously prepd. soln. or suspension of an alkali metallic salt of an org. acid in a reactor. The nucleating agent is contained in the photosensitive layer and/or its adjacent layer. Since the silver salt of the org. acid is used as the nonphotosensitive silver salt in combination with the nucleating agent, a high sensitivity and low fog (Dmin) contrasty image is obtd.
