    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a biochip reader capable of reducing cost, by flexibly coping with a variation in performance of an optical system and a secular change in the optical system.
      SOLUTION: This biochip reader comprises a microlens plate formed in an optional position by a plurality of microlenses of the optional size of restricting an emitting angle by emission or condensation to a narrow angle, a light source for irradiating the coherent light to the microlens plate as the excited light, a dichroic mirror for passing or reflecting the emitted light from the microlens plate and reflecting or passing fluorescence generated by a biochip, a photographing means, a lens for condensing the light reflected or passed by this dichroic mirror to the photographing means, a barrier filter arranged between the dichroic mirror and the photographing means, and a driving means for scanning the excited light emitted or condensed by a plurality of microlenses to a surface of the biochip by driving the microlens plate.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical switch element used in an optical switch for switching an optical path, the element which realizes remarkable relaxation of conventional severe accuracy requirements for machining, positioning and angle of an optical element and a driving device, and has low loss and high yield.
      SOLUTION: The optical switch has: a fixed reflection element of which the accuracy in the positioning and angle is severe and a movable optical path parallel translation element of which the accuracy in the positioning and angle is loose, and the optical switch performs switching between two conditions: a condition in which a light beam directly advances when the optical path parallel translation element is not located on the optical path; and a condition in which the optical path parallel translation element is inserted into the optical path with the driving device and the optical path of the light beam is translated in parallel, and the light beam is made incident on the fixed reflection element to change the angle. The optical switch is characterized in that the reflection element is fixed and the optical path parallel translation element of which the accuracy in the positioning and angle is loose is movable, while the conventional type has a movable reflection element of which the accuracy in the positioning and angle is severe is movable.
