Thereby, the absorbent 28 is brought into contact with the cut surface 1A of the lettuce 1 so as to tap the cut surface by own weights of the absorbent 28 and the roller 17. The vegetable juice is then absorbed. The vertical movement of the absorbent 28 is continued to the time slightly after the start of the conveyance to absorb the vegetable juice with the whole circumstance of the absorbent 28.
