Each ST transmits output data to the ring to output lines 31-1-31-3 and transmits output data to the data processor to output lines 51-1-51-3. A current ST selecting mechanism 5 selects one current ST and controls connection switches 11-1 and 11-2 through signal lines 12-1 and 12-2 to connect output lines from a current ST 4-3 to an output line 11 to the ring and an output line 41 to the data processor. The current ST selecting mechanism 5 monitors the state of each ST through signal lines 60-1-60-3.

    • PURPOSE:To grasp easily the existing location of a faulty station in a network at fault by generating identification information representing the physical connecting location of a general station by the station in connecting the station to the network and sending the message including the information to a management station. CONSTITUTION:The management station 3 of the network consists of a fault report communication frame 4 and a location represented by a local identifier. When a station (1-K) detects a fault, a console key of the station is used and generation of a fault is informed to the management station 3 by using a fault report frame 4. The frame 4 is a network management frame where FC 11 is set as '10000000', information of the location 5-P is stored by using a local identifier to an LA 20 and fault information is stored in an MI 21. The management station 3 uses the LA 20 that a fault exists in the station (1-K) in the location 5-P and then, for example, the maintenance personnel visits the location 5-P for the maintenance of the station (1-K). Thus, the maintenance efficiency is improved.

    • PURPOSE: To specify a fault location of star-ring type network without necessitating mounting a specific device, when an abnormalcy detection station (ST) shows a change by a pseudo-fault which is brought about intentionally, by judging that there is an actual fault near an upper stream of the ST.
      CONSTITUTION: In the case where a fault P occurred between a transmission end of ST1-B and port 7-B, a control ST, first of all, releases the uppermost port 7-A through a signal wire 8-A after receiving a beacon and finding out an abnormalcy at a ring. Now that no state change is occurred, the control ST releases the next down stream port 7-B. Still the state does not change, then the control ST2 releases a further downstream port 7-C and connects the port 7-A and port 7-B normally after bypassing the port 7-C. Because no ring's abnormalcy is restored, the control ST connects the bypass of the port 7-C normally and the next upper port 7-B of port 7-C is bypassed. Thus the ring's abnormalcy is restored and the preceding procedure makes it possible to specify the abnormal port.

      CONSTITUTION: A station ST5 connected newly to a bus ring 1 reports the own ring number and the own ST number to a management ST4. The management ST4 compares and collates the number with an ST number 12 registered already to a ring table 10 of all rings in the circuit network every time the newly assembled ST number is reported from the ST5 connected newly to the ring to check the rationality of the ST number of the ST5. Thus, the duplicated fault of the ST number is prevented.

The mechanism 13 stores the contents of the mechanism 10 to a control information collection response 32 and gives a reply to the mechanism 12. The mechanism 12 actuates a measure control mechanism 21 in response to the control information collected from each station. While a measure reply mechanism 22 checks the presence or absence of the corresponding measure request of the mechanism 10 and then carries out the measure when said request mechanism 10 and then carries out the measure when said request exists. Then the mechanism 22 ignores the corresponding measure of the mechanism 10 and sends a reply of the end of the measure back to a measure control mechanism 21.
