CONSTITUTION:A suspension controller has acceleration sensors 10A to 10C to detect the vertical accelaration of a spring member, a spring speed measuring means 1 and displacement sensors 20A to 20D to detect the vertical displacement of the spring member, and is composed of a relative speed measuring means 2 between the upper and lower sides of the spring; a controller 3 which, after mode-converting the spring speed and the relative speed, reversely converts them for judging the state of the road surface where a car is running, and controls the width of a dead zone of the spring speed and the relative speed, which are reversely converted according to the judged state of the road surface, to obtain a speed ratio for outputting a control signal; and an actuator 4 to control the opening area of a variable choking mechanism arrangedly provided between the cylinder piston device of an absorber of a suspension mechanism and an accumulator on the above control signal.

Then, the target value is computed corresponding to the varying speed of the load by target value computing means 187, 188 so that the target value may be large when the load varying speed is large while small when the load varying speed is small, and the target value is received by controllers 191-194. This constitution allows the load variation dF/dt is substantially balanced with the damping coefficient Cv to be generated by the shock absorber, and the skyhook control is realized.

      SOLUTION: The electrically driven pump is controlled by setting a temporary minimum duty ratio dBmintmp so that it decreases by a predetermined value α for every predetermined time t1 (S160-S240); and prior to the lapse of the predetermined time t1 after the temporary minimum duty ratio dBmintmp is set (modified), a value is set to a minimum duty ratio dBmin, the value being larger by a predetermined value β than the temporary minimum duty ratio dBmintmp at the time when a rotation speed Np of the electrically driven pump is at or falls below a threshold value Nref, so that the minimum duty ratio dBmin is updated (S250). In this way, a minimum duty ratio dBmin that reflects an individual difference of an electrically driven pump can be set, whereby excess power consumption by the electrically driven pump can be suppressed.

In addition, each angular acceleration is found out of the extent of torque in both pitch and roll directions, and in consideration of the affect, a target damping coefficient is calculated.

The target value calculating means then give the calculated target value to controllers 191 to 194, and thus skyhook control can be realized.
