    • PURPOSE:To obtain easily ultra-low phosphorus steel in O2 top blown refining by adding slag making agents in the form of powder to molten iron and blowing gases under the bath surface. CONSTITUTION:O2 is injected from three pieces of peripheral nozzles 16 in a nozzle head part A to the molten iron in a converter CV inserted therein with a lance B so that the molten steel is refined by top blowing of O2. Powder of >=1 kind slag making agents such as quicklime, limestone, fluorite, dolomite or the like is carried by a gaseous carrier and is added to the molten iron from the nozzle 15 in the central part. The powder is guided to the surface S of the molten iron without scattering by the O2 from the nozzles 16. >=1 kind among inert gases and gaseous N2, O2, CO, CO2 are blown through a tuyere N under the bath surface S during the period of said blowing or till the discharging period after the end of the blowing that follows the blowing period. The stirring of the molten steel or molten slag is thus intensified; therefore, even if a large amt. of the slag making agent is added, slag-off is accelerated and the formation of slag having >=5 basicity which is considered impossible heretofore is made possible.

    • PURPOSE:To enhance the yield ratio of steel, by a method wherein a firing point cooling agent is supplied from a passing orifice communicated with the outlet part of an oxygen nozzle and blown into molten iron containing an extremely reduced amount of slag while dispersed in oxygen in good efficiency to effecutuate the cooling of a firing point and to prevent fume loss. CONSTITUTION:In an oxygen top blowing steel manufacturing method, a mixture consisting of blowing grade oxygen and one kind or more cooling agent such as CO2, CaCO3, steam, water, a Mn ore or an iron ore is blown into molten iron in a state extremely reduced in a slag amount or made slagless by carrying out desilication and dephosphrization by using a porous lance 1. This porous lance 1 has such a structure that a cooling agent supply passage 2 having a passing orifice 2-1 is provided at the center thereof and an oxygen supply passage 3 having an oxygen nozzle 3-1 is provided around said passage 2 and is further equipped with cooling water passages 4, 5. A cooling agent in the cooling agent supply passage 2 is injected to the outlet part of the oxygen nozzle 3-1 from the passing orifice 2-1 and mixed and dispersed in an oxygen jet to be blown into a firing point.

    • PURPOSE:To regulate the flow rate of gas to be blown into molten metal in a furnace by using porous bricks as part of the material of the wall of the furnace contacting with the molten metal, and connecting the bricks to a coolant source. CONSTITUTION:Porous bricks 5, 5' are used as part of the material of the wall 1 of a metal refining furnace contacting with molten metal 2 in the furnace, and the bricks 5, 5' are connected to a coolant source with ducts 6, 6'. The preferred diameter of the pores in the bricks 5, 5' is 0.5-1.5mm., and the pores are arranged at intervals of 20-50mm.. Gas is blown into the molten metal 2 from the bricks 5, 5' to accelerate the agitation and refining of the molten metal 2. Since the gas is blown through the pores of said small diameter, the flow rate of the gas to be blown is easily regulated.
