    • PURPOSE:To stabilize and simplify the stage for refining and to reduce the cost thereof by mixing the powder of the prescribed compsn. obtd. by grinding and mixing a synthetic slag forming agent such as quicklime or the like in the gaseous oxygen flow for top blowing, adding the gaseous flow to molten iron and blowing an inert gas under the bath surface thereby stirring the molten steel. CONSTITUTION:An oxygen lance B for top blowing is inserted into the molten iron in a converter CV until the forward end thereof is positioned to the required height (h) above the surface S of the molten steel. Powder of a synthetic slag forming agent such as quicklime or the like to be ejected together with a gaseous carrier from the nozzle 15 in the central part of the lance B and the gaseous O2 to be ejected from peripheral nozzles 16 are so injected that the fluxes intersect with each other at the surface S or the fire point F. On the other hand, an inert gas such as gaseous Ar is blown under the bath surface A from the tuyere provided in the bottom or side wall of the converter CN to stir the molten iron.     • PURPOSE:To extremely efficiently manufacture high-grade low-phosphorus Al-killed steel, by smelting pig iron melt together with necessary adjutant raw materials into a state having low C content with upper-blown oxygen and bottom-blown gas, vacuum degasifying the formed steel to deoxidize and decarburize it, adding Al to it, and then continuously casting it. CONSTITUTION:Pig iron melt tgether with necessary adjutant raw materials is bottom- blown with gas during and/or after being refined with upper-blown O2 in the converter furnace which enables the upper blowing of O2 and the bottom blowing of gas to make steel of [C] below 0.07%, and the resulting steel melt is tapped under an undeoxidized condition. The undeoxidized tapped steel melt is then treated in a vacuum degasifier to perform decarburization, deoxidation and the adjustment of necessary components. From the time when [C] comes close to an objective value with the progress of the decarburizing reaction of C+O CO in the vacuum degasifier, Al is added in installments to reduce [O] down to about 0.002-0.005%. Thereafter, the steel melt after being treated in this way is formed into a cast piece of predetermined size by a continuous casting process. The formation of Al2O3 clusters is little in this continuous cast piece, and said cast piece is a low-phosphorus Al-killed one extremely excellent in quality as compared with a conventional Al-killed cast steel piece.

    • PURPOSE:To form slag efficiently and to refine molten steel stably by mixing powder of a slag forming agent into oxygen gaseous flow for top blowing, blowing the oxygen gaseous flow into the bath down to the prescribed infiltration depth, blowing a gas under the bath surface and stirring the molten steel. CONSTITUTION:A top blowing oxygen lance B is inserted into the molten steel in a converter CV to the required height above the surface S of said steel. Powder of a slag forming agent such as quicklime is injected together with a gaseous carrier from a powder supply line 11. O2 is injected simultaneously from three pieces of peripheral nozzles 16 so as to guide the powder to the bath surface S without scattering the same. The ratio of powder/gas, the diameter of the nozzle, the height of the lance, etc. are so selected that the depth of the infiltration of the powder into the bath is made >=30% of the depth of the bath in order to prevent the powdering by the generated gaseous CO. On the other hand, an inert gas such as gaseous Ar is blown through single or plural tuyeres N provided in the bottom or side wall of the converter CV. The uniform mixing time of the bath in this case is so set as to be 30-100sec, whereby the slag is formed efficiently and the molten steel is refined stably.
