    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide excellent sealing performance through prevention of deformation of an elastic lip of a seal segment even under a high pressure and provide an increased life.
      SOLUTION: A rotary shaft seal comprises a seal element 2 having a seal lip 21 having a helical groove 22 formed in a contact surface with a rotary shaft 10, a seal segment 3 arranged on the fluid side of the seal element 2 and having an elastic lip 31 in approximately linear contact with the rotary shaft 10, and a pressure reduction seal 5 arranged on the fluid side of the seal segment 3 and having a plurality of annular recessed grooves 51 formed on the rotary shaft 10 side. The rotary shaft seal is held by and formed between an outer case 1 to cover the outer peripheral sides of respective seal members and an inner case 4 arranged inside the outer case 1.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a alignment properties on a rotary shaft, and provide a stable labyrinth effect by arranging a ring made of an elastic body around a housing side of a rotary shaft seal, in a rotary shaft seal provided with a seal segment having a plurality of recessed grooves on a surface of a rotary shaft side. SOLUTION: A seal segment 3 have a alignment properties on a rotary shaft 1 by an elasticity of an O-ring 4 arranged around the outer periphery of the seal segment 3. Namely, in the case where the seal segment 3 is off-centered with the rotary shaft 1, or in the case where the rotary shaft 1 is off-centered, the seal segment 3 is displaced in a radial direction on a contact part by means of elasticity of the O-ring 4 even if the rotary shaft 1 is brought into contact with a part of the seal segment 3, the seal segment 3 and the rotary shaft 1 are off-centered nearly concentrically with each other. Eccentric abrasion of the seal segment 3 is reduced, a clearance between the seal segment 3 and the rotary shaft 1 is held to some extent by a concentricity action, and thereby, stable labyrinth effect can be provided.
