    • PURPOSE:To relieve stress due to centrifugal force and protect an anti-erosion plate fitted to a moving blade from stress corrosion craking by setting the length of the plate to be not larger than 1/4 of the effective length of the blade. CONSTITUTION:A low-pressure final-stage moving blade comprises an ani-erosion plate 4b welded to the back face on the steam inlet side and on the top side of the moving blade 3 for prevention of erosion due to working steam. The length of the plate 4b is not larger than 1/4 of the effective length of the moving blade 3. This is determined based on the fact that, from the investigation of crack occurrence frequency distribution, cracks occurred mostly in the portion from 1/3 to 1/4 of the effective length and rarely occurred in the portion not larger than 1/4 of the effective length. This arrangement prevents the cracking of the plate 4b and improves safety.

    • PURPOSE:To determine the degree of damage in a non-destructive manner and with a high accuracy, by making a judgement based on relationship between growth of a fine damage generated in the surface of a member early in the life and the life itself. CONSTITUTION:A damage detector 6 is inserted into a center hole 15 of a turbine rotor 14 and linked to a driving rod 7 to be moved axially. The driving rod 7 is provided successively to a driving section 8 and a specified amount of movement and position thereof are detected. The height-wise movement of the driving rod is linked with a connecting column 16 to adjust the amount of movement thereof with a vertical movement driving section 9. A signal from the detector 6 is turned to an image proper in the focus and magnification with a CRT 10 and an image controller 11 and an image processor 12 calculates the size of damage and samples sampling of data. The damage sampled is statistically processed with an arithmetic decision device 13 and the degree of damage of an object area is displayed on the CRT 10 containing various statistical evaluations including a mean and dispersion.
