    • PURPOSE:To support the entire part of endless belts uniformly under static pressure and to maintain continuous casting adequately by segmenting the recesses of hydrostatic pressure supporting devices on the rear surfaces of the endless belts which face each other at a prescribed spacing and form a mold into small areas. CONSTITUTION:Hydrostatic pressure supporting devices are provided with plural recesses 32 in array in a width direction as well. When the solidified shell 13 of an ingot is deformed so as to project the central part thereof toward the bodies 31 of the supporting devices, the spacings between the recesses 32 located in the central parts of the bodies 31 and the rear surfaces in the central parts of endless belts 18 decrease, the pressure in the recesses 32 increases and the force trying to push back the central parts of the belts 18 to the home position generate. Since the spacings between the recesses 32 and the belts 18 increase in the respective recesses 32 located in both end parts of the bodies 31, the force to be returned to the home position acts in both end parts of the belts 18 in the tendency reverse from that in the above-described central parts, whereby the self-adjusting power is provided, and the entire parts of the belts 18 are supported uniformly under static pressure.

    • PURPOSE:To extend the service life of short-side stationary side plates for a broad ingot by making said side plates of pure copper and mounting carbon- contg. bearing alloys to the parts in contact with long side moving beltlike bodies in a mold in a synchronizing type continuous casting device for casting molten steel to the broad ingot at high speeds. CONSTITUTION:In casting a broad ingot with a synchronizing type continuous casting device, short-side side plates 18 constituting a mold are constituted of water cooled blocks 22 made of pure copper provided with cooling grooves 24 and back plates 23 supporting these. The end parts of the blocks 22 which contact the moving type beltlike bodies 4, 5 constituting the long sides of the mold are mounted with projecting parts 25 of grease-less bearing alloys such as graphite-contg. aluminum bronze or the like by padding or welding. Since there is no need for coating lubricants between the continuously cast ingot moving in the mold and the side plates 18, the occurrence of explosion accidents occuring in lubricants and the generation of rugged defects on the ingot surfaces are obviated and the life of the stationary side plates are extended.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the development of breakout and to relatively lower the cost by arranging the projections contacting with the curving surface of long sides in a mold to a part of a dummy bar head to obtain such a same action as the existence of large strength solidified shells at the outside of small strength solidified shell. SOLUTION: The SPCC-made projections 12 having e.g. 0.5 mm thickness, are fitted to the dummy bar head 10 so as to contact with the surfaces of the long sides in the mold. The size of the projection 12 in the width direction of a cost slab is made to almost the same size as the cast slab. In the estimation with calculation, e.g. the solidified shell thickness at 100 mm below a meniscus is about 2 mm at both stages of the initial stage of casting and in the stationary state, and it is considered that this thickness does not differ so large at both stage. However, in the initial stage of casting, the drawing resistance is large, because the lubrication with powder is insufficient, and it is considered that the strength of the solidified shell is smaller than or the same degree as the drawing resistance. In the case of using the dummy bar head with the projections, since such a same action is obtd. as thickening the solidified shells at the long sides in the mold at the initial stage of casting, the development of the breakout is reduced.

    • PURPOSE:To produce slabs by the stable continuous casting operation and to produce hot rolled sheet materials having good quality with a compact equipment by arranging coiling used for both coiling and un-coiling respectively on the inlet and outlet sides of a rolling mill group and rolling the slabs having a specific thickness with plural passes while respetitively coiling an uncoiling the slabs with these coilers. CONSTITUTION:The slab 3 from a casting machine capable of executing stable casting in 60 to 120mm thickness is efficiently hot rolled with the equipment arranges after the casting machine, in order of a cutting machine 4, a rapid heater 5, a holding furnace 6, the reversible type rolling mills 17, 18 having two units or >=2 units of rolling mill group capable of uncoiling the slabs on the inlet and outlet sides and a product coiler 27. The hot rolled sheet products 25 are efficiently produced with the equipment with short length. The heating after cutting of the slab 3 is executed by the rapid heater 5 with an induction or energization system, by which the slab 3 is rapidly heated up to a prescribed high temp. and, therefore, the holding time for making the structure of the slab 3 uniform is shortened and the holding furnace 6 is minimized.
