    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle search system that can search for the direction of the vehicle with high reliability by displaying information on the direction of the vehicle and also information on the reliability of the information. SOLUTION: A vehicle search system 1 includes: an electronic compass 22 for detecting the absolute direction viewed from a portable device 2; array antennas 33a, 33d for detecting a relative direction of the portable device viewed from the vehicle 3 and measuring the intensity of radio waves arriving at the vehicle; an electronic compass 32 for detecting the absolute direction viewed from the vehicle 3; a vehicle-side control part 31 for computing the absolute direction of the portable device viewed from the vehicle 3 based on the information on the relative direction of the portable device 2 and the information on the absolute direction viewed from the vehicle 3; a portable device-side control part 21 for computing the relative direction of the vehicle 3 viewed from the portable device 2 based on the information on the absolute direction of the portable device 2 viewed from the vehicle 3 that is transmitted from the vehicle 3 to the portable device 2 and the information on the absolute direction viewed from the portable device 2; and a display part 25 for displaying the information on the relative direction of the vehicle 3 and also displaying the information on the intensity of the radio waves by a predetermined expression means.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve security by suppressing illegal communication between an electronic key and a vehicle using a relay machine in an electronic key system. SOLUTION: A communicable area is limited to a second communication area 42 while including the position of the electronic key 10 discriminated by the arrival direction of a response signal. When radio wave is relayed by the relay machine 101, a receiving antenna 102 and a transmitting antenna 107 must be installed in the second communication area 42. Therefore, both antennas 102, 107 are positioned close to each other, and jamming occurs in the relay machine 101. When the receiving antenna 102 and the transmitting antenna 107 are installed at positions apart from each other, for example, the receiving antenna 102 comes out of the second communication area 42, and the receiving antenna cannot receive a request signal transmitted to the second communication area 42.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic key system of a vehicle, which is effective for the prevention of a forcible entry of a third person into a vehicle interior. SOLUTION: In this electronic key system of the vehicle, a distance measurement signal Scd is given and received between an in-vehicle device 10 and a portable machine 20; it is determined through the giving and receiving of the signal that the portable machine 20 is positioned in a communicable area A; a request signal Srs and a response signal Sas are given and received; the authentication of the portable machine 20 is established through giving and receiving of the signals; and a vehicle door is unlocked on the basis of the determination and the establishment of the authentication. In this case, after a re-request signal Srr is transmitted after the transmission of the request signal Srs from the in-vehicle device 10, the portable machine 20 specifies a mode of a reply of the portable machine 20 to the re-request signal Srr.
