    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a surface mounting device having improved productivity for shortening a manufacturing process by facilitating the positioning of a metal cover to a container body, and to provide a sheet-like substrate suited for the manufacturing method of the surface mount device. SOLUTION: By using a method, a crystal device is manufactured. The crystal device has the sheet-like substrate 12 which has a plurality of vessel bodies 1 vertically and horizontally, at least stores a crystal piece 2 in the recess of the plurality of container bodies 1 in the sheet-like substrate 12, and is used for surface mount where the sheet-like substrate 12 is divided into respective container bodies 1. In this case, an annular groove is provided at the periphery at a portion to the container body 1 of the sheet-like substrate 12, the outer-periphery end at the side of a rotating shaft of an electrode roller 15(ab) having the slope of a seam welder is positioned in the annular groove, the slope is brought into contact with the metal cover 3 on the vessel body 1, the metal cover 3 is joined onto the opening end face of the vessel body 1 by seam welding, and then the sheet-like substrate 12 is divided into respective vessel bodies 1.
