    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pattern layout device which easily copes with the change of production stages or a design method and easily copes with the pattern change meeting a design condition also.
      SOLUTION: An arbitrarily drawn original pattern is read out from a storage device 26 by a fundamental pattern extraction means 25. The read-out original pattern is designated to an area having a prescribed area to extract a fundamental pattern. A parameter operation means 27 uses data of the read-out fundamental pattern to recognize element patterns constituting the fundamental pattern respectively. Parameters of individual recognized element patterns are obtained. Rules to execute the processing which recognize individual element patterns respectively and the processing which obtains parameters of individual element patterns are described in rule files 29a to 29f on a computer. At each time of obtaining parameters, the parameter operation means 27 reads out corresponding rule files 29a to 29f to execute a prescribed processing.
