Further, the outer peripheral surfaces of the part provided with the electrode layer 16 and the parts not provided with the electrode layer 16 are provided with resistance control layers 18 and protective layers 20 from the inner side to the outer side of the diametral direction of the roll.

    • PURPOSE:To supply toner to a developing roll stably by using a nonporous body which is contained with an electrostatic charging control agent for giving static charges of the opposite polarity from an electrostatic latent image formed on a photosensitive drum for the surface layer of a sleeve, and roughening the surface. CONSTITUTION:A roll 1 consists of a mandrel 11 and the sleeve 12 formed of an elastic member on the outer peripheral surface of the mandrel 11, the surface layer 12a of the sleeve 12 is made of the nonporous body contg. the electrostatic charging control agent for giving static charges of the opposite polarity from the electrostatic latent image formed on the photosensitive drum 3, and the surface is roughened. The surface layer 12a of the sleeve does not have holes that toner enters unlike a porous body and the surface layer 12 is never hardened owing to clogging. Further, the surface layer 12a contains the electrostatic charging control agent, so the toner supplied to the developing roll 2 is charged enough electrostatically with the frictional force between the developing roll 2 and a roller 1 for toner conveyance. Consequently, the uniform toner layer with superior electrostatic charging characteristics is formed on the developing roll to obtain an image of high picture quality.

    • PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for mixing an electrostatic charge controlling agent into a toner by forming a frictional electrostatic charge body of rubber and incorporating the electrostatic charge controlling agent which can apply the electrostatic charge of the polarity reversed from the polarity of the electrostatic latent image formed on an image base into the rubber. CONSTITUTION:The frictional charge body is formed of the rubber compsn. contg. 0.75pt.wt. color index pigment yellow 14 in 100pts.wt. ethylene propylene diene rubber and vulcanized with peroxide and is adhered and fixed onto the base. A styrene/methyl methacrylate copolymer resin which is mixed with a coloring agent having no electrostatic charge controlling function is used as the toner to develop and copy the electrostatic latent image on the image base. The toner is stably electrostatically charged to the positive polarity by friction with the frictional charge member and the charged toner passes easily between the frictional charge member and a developing roller according to the rotation of the developing roller. The generation of fogging, etc. is obviated even after 20,000 sheets of copying.
