    • PURPOSE:To branch the multiple coated optical fibers with a stable light loss while keeping the coated fiber free from undue stresses by providing a branch part protective body integrated with a perforated member having plural insertion holes on the same circumference and an approximately spindle shaped protective body positioned on the same axis between the end of the multiple coated optical fibers and a single fiber protective tube. CONSTITUTION:The branch part protective body 10 integrated with the perforated member 12 having the plural insertion holes on the same circumference and the approximately bobbin- shaped protective body 11 positioned on the same axis is disposed between the end of the multiple coated optical fiber 1 and the single fiber protective tube. The single-fiber coated optical fiber 2 branched from the multiple coated optical fibers 1 are inserted along the outside surface of the spindle shaped protective body 11 through the insertion holes of the perforated member 12 into the single fiber protective tube 15. The branched single-fiber coated optical fiber 2 are, therefore, kept free from the undue bending forces, etc. The single- fiber coated optical fiber 2 and the spindle shaped protective body 11 are fixed by a resin 20, etc., by which the stabler branching part of the lessened light loss is obtd. The plural longitudinal grooves are provided on the outside surface of the spindle shaped protective body 11 and the branched single-fiber coated optical fiber 2 are housed into the grooves at this time. The stable branching part of the lessened light loss is obtd. in this way.

    • PURPOSE:To decrease the number of components and to reduce the size and improve the reliability by carrying out three processes of an optical connector switching device by a cam mechanism associatively and using a turning force supply means which rotates by a specific angle of rotation as a power source. CONSTITUTION:A cam mechanism consists basically of a plane cam and a three-dimensional cam; and, for example, a tangential cam is used as a 1st cam and a cylindrical cam is used as a 2nd cam. A driven element 6 is brought into direct contact with the tangential cam 4a and when the tangential cam 4a rotates, an optical fiber connecting member 2 is put in reciprocal motion in the direction of the optical axis, and one end of the driven element 7 is fitted in the cam groove of the cylindrical cam 4b while the other end is coupled with a moving stage 3; when the cylindrical cam 4b rotates, the optical fiber connecting member 1 and optical fiber connecting member 5 are moved at right angles to the optical axis. The tangential cam 4a and cylindrical cam 4b are constituted coaxially and fitted to a turning force supply means 8, so they rotates in the same direction at the same time by the rotation of the turning force supply means 8. Consequently, three processes are carried out associatively and the device is reducible in size.

    • PURPOSE:To fix a reinforcing body and a jacket to a coated optical fiber protection part and a single-fiber protection part respectively by applying the protection parts with the reinforcing body and jacket and their branching part with a heat-shrinkable tube. CONSTITUTION:The optical fiber tape 1 whose tip branches into single-fiber units is inserted into an optical fiber branching part A from an optical fiber fixation part 2, the respective branched single coated fibers 4 pass through the projection part 5, and then the optical fiber tape 1 is fixed to an optical fiber fixation part 2 with an adhesive as necessary. Then the optical fiber branching part A is applied with the reinforcing body 12 and jacket 13 to form a multi-branching pipe B. Further, the heat-shrinkable tube 18 is provided by covering both the branching part A and multi-branching tube B and then treated thermally. Consequently, the reinforcing body 12 and jacket 13 are fixed by securely adhering with the protection part. Further, when an adhesive layer 19 is used inside the heat-shrinkable tube 18, the reinforcing body and jacket can be fixed further strongly.
