    • PURPOSE:To reduce the difference between tension applying on magnetic tapes generated owing to the difference between the sizes of used tape cassettes with an inexpensive mechanism in a recording and reproducing device capable of loading the tape cassettes of two different sizes having the different distances between two tape reels. CONSTITUTION:The position of a reel base 18 is moved corresponding to the used tape cassette. A ten-legged pin 31 erected on an arm 30 which is freely rotatably to a chassis is elastically in contact with the magnetic tapes 5 and 12. One end of a brake band 32 is supported to the chassis at a (33) and another end is supported to the arm at a (34) and the middle part is rewound around the brake drum 18b of the reel base. The supporting positions 33 and 34 are disposed symmetrically with the respect to the perpendicular bisector C of a segment AB connecting the centers A and B in two positions corresponding to the tape cassette on the reel base.

    • PURPOSE:To improve head contact even when the rotary head drum device is reduced in size by decreasing each drum diameter and increasing the opposition area between a rotary drum and an upper fixed drum, forming air blowout grooves in at least one surface, and forming air film between a tape travel surface of each drum and a tape. CONSTITUTION:Even when the drums 10, 30, and 40 which constitute the rotary head drum device 1 are reduced in diameter and the peripheral wall part of the lower fixed drum 10 is made thin, the mutually opposite top surface 30b and reverse surface 40b of the rotary drum 30 and upper fixed drum 40 can be made conic and inversely conic to increase an area. Consequently, the respective air blowout grooves 36 can be formed in the top surface 30b of the drum 30 and the air film with proper and uniform layer thickness can be formed between the tape travel surfaces of the respective drums 10, 30, and 40 and the magnetic tape with air blow out of them. The tape is therefore not damaged and even when the device is reduced in size, the heat contact is sufficiently secured.

    • PURPOSE:To perform post-recording of an optional signal without lowering a utilizing efficiency of a recording medium by recording the signal in order to equalize a level difference between tracks with a level difference between heads in their scanning direction. CONSTITUTION:The heads 9a and 9b are integrated into one body, and the level difference P corresponding to a track pitch is provided between the heads 9a and 9b, while a prescribed level difference GL is provided in the head scanning direction in order not to generate an effect of cross talk, etc. Then, a head device consisting of these heads 9a and 9b is rotated to scan, and a tape 10 is moved along a circulferential surface, so that a recording pattern is formed on the tape 10. In order to equalize the level difference (d) between tracks which are the tracks 19a and 19b to be recorded in this recording pattern by the heads 9a and 9b with the level difference GL between the heads 9a and 9b in their scanning direction, a moving amt. of the tape per unit time and the number of revolutions of the heads 9a and 9b ar settled. By this method, the post-recording of each signal, etc., is performed in simple constitution without lowering the utilizing efficiency.

    • PURPOSE:To enable the microfeeding of a head drum by providing two screws having different leads each other, a composing a differential screw mechanism by these two screws and moving the head drum in the axial direction by the differential screw mechanism. CONSTITUTION:When the double nut 30 fixed to an output shaft 29 is rotated by driving a feed motor 27, the double nut 30 is moved in the vertical direction for a housing 32 with the lead L1 of a male screw 31, as the male screw 31 formed on the outer peripheral face of the nut 30 is engaged with the female screw 33 of the housing 32. On the other hand, since the driving screw 35 engaged with the female screw 34 at the inner side of the double nut 30 is checked in its rotation by a spline 36, the lead L2 of the female screw 34 is moved in the vertical direction for the double nut 30, the nut 30 is moved in the reverse direction by the L1 and the driving screw 35 is moved in the axial direction with the L1-L2 for the housing 32 and a chassis 26. Due to the driving screw 35 being linked with the drum 10 via a guide block 22 and stationary drum 13, the drum 10 is moved in the axial direction to reduce the difference L1-L2 in the leads and the microfeeding of the head drum 10 can be performed.
