摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an antibacterial agent capable of dispersing or dissolving in a solution without using a specific supplementary agent by using a specific salt of or a specific adduct to N-(β-hydroxyalkyl)-N-oxyethyleneaminoalkyl carboxylic acid. SOLUTION: This agent is obtained by using a metal salt of or an ethylene oxide adduct to N-(β-hydroxyalkyl)-N-oxyethylaminoalkyl carboxylic acid of the formula [R is a 4-26C alkyl; (m)=1, 2; (n)>=1; (o)=1-50; X is iron, nickel, copper, zinc, silver or gold]. A metal compound of or an ethylene oxide adduct to a compound of the formula disperses or dissolves in a liquid such as water without using a specific supplementary agent such as a solvent, and excellently compatible with a synthetic resin and a coating material. Therefore, it can produce an antibacterial agent capable of imparting antibacterial activity against these materials. Further, an antibacterial resin and an antibacterial coating material can be produced by using the antibacterial agent.

摘要： PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound in good color tone useful as a foam stabilizer having improved emulsification properties, by hydrogenating a higher fatty acid lower alkyl ester in the presence of a nickel catalyst, and reacting the hydrogenated compound with an alkanolamine. CONSTITUTION:6-22C higher fatty acid lower alkyl ester is hydrogenated in the presence of a nickel catalyst (e.g., Raney nickel), and reacted with an alkanolamine to give a higher fatty acid alkanolamide. The higher fatty acid alkanoamide is used as a good foam stabilizer having improved emulsification properties for a base for detergents and shampoos, or as a raw material or a composition for a fiber treatment, but its existing preparation causes problems wherein the higher fatty acid alkanolamide is colored by high-temperature reaction, or fibers are colored when it is used for the fibers. The alkanolamide obtained by this process has bright hue, causes no coloring when used in detergents or shampoos, can shown clear color in colorful shampoos, and has retention of fine foams.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a surfactant that is excellent in safety as well as excellent in the properties inherently possessed by a surfactant such as foaming properties, detergency or the like by using a compound of a structure obtained by adding a 1,2-epoxyalkane to a nitrogen atom of a hydroxamide in which a tertiary amino group is made ampholytic. SOLUTION: A compound of formula I is used. In the formula, R1 represents a group derived from a fatty acid; and X represents R3COO or R3SO3 (wherein R3 is a group derived from a monohalogenated sulfonate). Usually, the compound is produced by allowing a monohalogenated carboxylate or a monohalogenated sulfonate to react with a tertiary amino compound produced by addition reaction of a 1,2-epoxyalkane to a hydroxamide prepared by reacting a fatty acid with a hydroxy amine to make a tertiary amino group ampholytic. As a fatty acid, a 8-20C fatty acid, particularly one originating from a vegetable source, is preferable. As a hydroxy amine, a compound of formula II is preferable, and more preferable is one of formula II wherein n=2 to 3; and m=2 to 3.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antimicrobial agent excellent in compatibility with resin, etc., by dispersing or solubilizing the salts of specific polyethyleneimine derivatives and acids, as active ingredients, in liquids such as water, etc., not using a specific assistant such as solvents. SOLUTION: This salt is obtained by neutralizing a polyethyleneimine derivative having at least one kind of hydrophobic group selected from among an alkyl, an acyl and a hydroxyalkyl group in a molecule and the average molecular weight of 200-100,000, with an acid. The 600-10,000 of average molecular weight is especially preferred for polyethyleneimine derivative. The preferred average amount of the hydrophobic group introduced to the polyethyleneimine is 0.1-0.7 groups per molecule of polyethyleneimine. The salt of polyethyleneimine derivative having hydrophobic groups in amount of the prescribed range is excellent in compatibility with resin or coating and manifests an excellent antimicrobial effect when used as an antimicrobial agent. The acid used in neutralizing is, for example, mineral acids such as hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, sulfuric acid, etc., an organic acids such as formic acid, lactic acid and malic acid, etc.

The compound of the formula is obtained by introducing an alkylenecarboxylic acid group into an 8-22C alkylamine and converting the resultant compound into the metallic salt or further adding a prescribed amount of ethylene oxide thereto. The compound of the formula is dispersed or solubilized in a liquid such as water without requiring a special assistant such as a solvent and is good in compatibility with synthetic resins or coating materials and capable of imparting good antimicrobial activities thereto.

This agent has excellent compatibility with a synthetic resin, especially a butadiene/styrene copolymer resin, and when added internally thereto, it can give an antistatic effect stable for a long term thereto. The compound of the formula is obtained by reacting an alkanolamine with an epoxyalkane and optionally effecting the addition reaction of the product with an alkylene oxide.
