The dispersion contains a cationic polymer compound having >=300,000 average molecular weight or an anionic polymer compound having >=300,000 average molecular weight and a polyvinyl alcohol as a dispersion stabilizer.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject treatment agent in the form of a dispersion affording a uniform coating film after evaporated to dryness as well as having high stability with time, thermal stability and mechanical stability, thus sufficiently exhibiting the aimed performance thereof by using a specific cellulosic high- molecular compound as the dispersant in addition to a hydrophobic resin and a polyvinyl alcohol. As a result, this treatment agent is improved in compatibility of the polyvinyl alcohol with the hydrophobic resin with the smaller amount of the polyvinyl alcohol to be incorporated, leading to further improving the physical properties of the fibrous material treated with this agent.

A water-soluble polyurethane is obtained by reacting the modified polyol with a polyisocyanate. The obtained water-soluble polyurethane is used as the objective collecting agent. Further, a water-soluble polyurethane having a weight-average molecular weight of 50,000-300,000 is obtained by reacting the modified polyol with the polyisocyanate, where the amount of the isocyanate group in the polyisocyanate is controlled so that it is 0.5-1.5 mole equivalent based on the hydroxyl group in the modified polyol.
