    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing structure of a coated optical fiber and its fixing method for easily fixing a coated optical fiber to a ferrule.
      SOLUTION: After an optical fiber 14b is inserted into a rubber sleeve 12 to fit the sleeve over a heat-resistant coating layer 14a of the optical fiber 14, the coated optical fiber 14 is inserted into a hole of a ferrule 11. The optical fiber 14b is passed through a hole 11a having a small diameter of the ferrule 11 and exposed in a sufficient length from the top end of the ferrule, and then, the rubber sleeve 12 is pushed into a hole 11c having a medium diameter. When a cover 13 is pushed from the rear side of the ferrule 11, the rubber sleeve 12 is further pushed by a portion 13b having a medium diameter of the cover 13 to cause reduction in the inner diameter and increase in the outer diameter in the hole 11c having a medium diameter. Thereby, the coated optical fiber 14 is firmly fixed in the ferrule 11 while prevented from moving in the longitudinal direction.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the number of components and the number of assembling man-hour of an optical fiber cable.
      SOLUTION: The optical fiber cable includes: a cable body including a coated optical fiber which is an optical fiber coated by a coating layer and a sheath in which the coated optical fiber is inserted; and an optical connector mounted on a connector mounting end part of the cable body. At least the optical fiber 11 is projected from the sheath 20 at the connector mounting end part of the cable body 110, and a caulking member 40 is fixed at the end part of the sheath 20, being so provided to cover the sheath 20 from the side and so caulked as to envelope the sheath 20. The caulking member 40 has connector engaging parts 44 projecting outward. The optical connector is mounted on the cable body 110 by being engaged with the connector engaging parts 44 of the caulking member 40 fixed on the end part of the sheath 20.
