    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a muffler of an internal combustion engine capable of increasing the durability of an exhaust emission control member by preventing exhaust emission from an exhaust port of an internal combustion engine from being discharged directly on the exhaust emission control member, making uniform an inlet side temperature distribution on the exhaust emission control member, and suppressing the surface temperature of a muffler as low as possible. SOLUTION: An internal combustion engine 1 comprises a generally longitudinal expansion chamber to which exhaust emission discharged from an exhaust port 10 of the internal combustion engine 1 is introduced. The expansion chamber is divided vertically into a first expansion chamber 31 and a second expansion chamber 32 through a partition member 40, an exhaust emission control member 50 comprising an oxidation catalyst is disposed on the partition member 40, and exhaust emission from the exhaust port 10 is introduced from the first expansion chamber 31 to the second expansion chamber 32 through the exhaust emission control member 40. The exhaust emission control member 40 is disposed in the direction vertical to the exhaust emission jet direction apart by arbitrary distance from the exhaust port 10.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To change characteristics of a two-stroke internal combustion engine while reducing harmful emission in exhaust gas exhausted from the engine. SOLUTION: In the two-stroke internal combustion engine, an air cleaner 302 includes an air cleaner base 308 capable of being attached and detached to and from a carburetor 306. The air cleaner base 308 has an air-fuel mixture opening 316 communicating with an air-fuel mixture passage 314 of the carburetor 306 and a fresh air opening 318 communicating with a fresh air passage 312 of the carburetor 306. The air cleaner base 308 also has an L-shaped air guide member 320 communicating with the air-fuel mixture opening 316. The air guide member 320 is integrally formed with the air cleaner base 308 so as not to be detached therefrom. A plurality of types of air cleaner bases 308 is prepared having respective extended air passages for air-fuel mixture 324 with different lengths each of which is defined by the air guide member 320.     • PURPOSE:To correspond widely and swiftly to a change of the size or a discharge direction of a box assembly and the box assembly is made to stand up reliably by the same standing lever of the box, by a method wherein a position of a standing starting point against which the box assembly at the tip of a tilting part abuts first is made changeable freely. CONSTITUTION:A horizontal part 71a of a base part 71 of the box standing lever is pierced through movably freely and supported in a box standing lever fitting honored so that a right and left both side parts of a sliding and fixing part 75 of the box standing lever is penetrated in a horizontal direction. A wing bolt 83 which controls its horizontal movement by abutting against a horizontal part 71a and is fixable to an arbitrary position is screwed into a sliding and fixing part 75 of the box standing lever in the top. The tip part 73b' of the standing part 73 is made to abut always against the top of the standing rest 61 by making use of position changing devices 72, 75, 62, 62 of standing starting points P each, through which control can be performed so that the tip part is not pierced through a standing box body being sent away.
