    • PURPOSE:To prevent the deformation of the ceiling part of a gas generator, and to improve its outside appearance and to make the attaching of a mechanical sensor possible by composing the housing of the gas generator of the first member consisting of a central cylinder part, an annular part and an outer cylinder part and the second member consisting of an annular part and an inner cylinder part. CONSTITUTION:In a gas generator, an accommodating chamber 15 for ignition means 16, 17 and a combustion chamber 18 to accommodate a gas generating means 20 are partitionedly formed inside a housing 2 having a gas exhaust mouth 1. In this case, the housing 2 is composed of the first and the second member 3, 4 and a cover member 22. The first member 3 is formed of a central cylinder part 5 opened at only one end, an annular part 6 extending flange-shapedly to the above opened end, and an outer cylinder part 7 extending axially on the outer edge of the annular part 6. The second member 4 is formed of an annular part 10 having a central hole 9 in which the central cylinder part 5 is fitted and an inner cylinder part 11 extending axially to the annular part 6 of the first member 3 on the outer edge of the annular part 10. In addition, an accommodating chamber 15 and the combustion chamber 18 are partitionedly formed inside and outside the central cylinder part 5.

    • PURPOSE:To miniaturize and lighten a gas generator by connectively arranging an inner cylindrical member having inward and outward flange parts and an outer cylindrical member having an inward flange member outside of it on the outside of a central cylindrical member having a bottom part on one side end and an outward flange part on the other end side by their respective flange members. CONSTITUTION:A housing is constituted of a central cylindrical member 10, an inner cylindrical member 20 outside of it and an outer cylindrical member 30 outside of it, and the central cylindrical member 10 is formed into a storage chamber 4, the inner cylindrical member 20 into a combustion chamber 5 and the outer cylindrical member 30 into a coolant filter chamber 6. Thereafter, a bottom part 13 is formed on one side part of the central cylindrical member 10, an outward flange part 11 is formed on the other side end and an inward flange part 21 and an outward flange part 22 are formed on the inner cylindrical member 20. The outward flange member 11 of the central cylindrical member 10 and the inward flange member 21 of the inner cylindrical member 20 are respectively welded on their objective side main bodies by a step part 14. In the same way, by providing an inward flange part 32 on the outer cylindrical member 30, the inner and outer cylindrical members 20, 30 are connected to each other by the flange parts 22, 32.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas generator for an air bag having a filter with a high cooling effect. SOLUTION: The gas generator has a housing having a gas exhaust port, an ignition means chamber having an ignition means operated by an impact, and a combustion chamber storing a gas generating agent for generating combustion gas by ignition and combustion. A cylindrical filter 65 is disposed between the combustion chamber and the gas exhaust port, and the combustion gas is discharged from the gas exhaust port through the filter. An inner cylindrical shielding plate 66 is arranged inside the cylindrical filter 65, the lower end opening rim of the inner cylindrical shielding plate contacts with a housing bottom surface, the upper end opening rim is arranged so as to provide a space between it and the housing ceiling surface, and a section having high permeability is disposed between the inner surface of the cylindrical filter and the inner cylindrical shielding plate 66. Heat resistance is required in the inner cylindrical shielding plate, so that it is made of metal such as stainless steel. A gas flow is provided by operations of the inner cylindrical shielding plate 66 for grappling the cylindrical filter 65 for cooling the combustion gas from both sides, an outer cylindrical shielding plate 67, a first clearance 71, and a second clearance 72.
