    • PURPOSE:To effectively collect combustion residues by means of a coolant by a method wherein a combustion ring is provided with a plurality of peripherally extending protrusion parts, each protrusion part is provided with a ceiling part inclined based on the peripheral wall surface of the combustion ring, and an opening through which gas is injected is formed in the end on one side of the protrusion part. CONSTITUTION:A generating high pressure high temperature flame passes through an opening 7 and is caused to ignite a gas generating agent in a combustion chamber 5. Gas generated in the combustion chamber 5 is collided with an inclining ceiling part by which the direction of a flow is changed, and the change of the flow causes dissipation of a part of energy. The energy is peripherally injected through an opening 21b in the end on one side of the protrusion part and rotational movement is exerted on the gas. Combustion gas is axially and radially outwardly diffused as it is rotated around a combustion ring 20. A comparatively large combustion residue contained in gas is radially outwardly transferred by means of a centrifugal force generated by rotation and effectively collected by means of a coolant 13.

There is provided a combustor plate 16 being welded to a peripheral flange inner edge of the combustor cup at an outer edge in order to close this combustion chamber and welded to an opposite end edge part of the holder at the inner edge, and further it has a diffuser 12 which covers a top wall of the central tubular holder and a top face of the combustor cup to be connected to this top wall, thereby forming a double wall surface, thus an end edge of the peripheral flange 15 of the combustor cup is constituted so as to be welded to an inner wall of an extension part of the diffuser.

In this case, a ring-shaped flange 2 is formed apart from the housing. A flange part 6 swelling toward a radial outside and an inner periphery 8 having a fixed bore are formed in the flange 2. In addition, a flange arranging plane 9 fitting in the inner periphery 8 of the flange and a projection 11 holding sandwichedly the flange 2 are formed on the outer periphery of the housing.

    • PURPOSE:To miniaturize and lighten a gas generator by engaging an engagement part of an engagement member with a stepped part of either one of a diffuser shell and a closure shell and caulking and fixing a caulking part on a stepped part of the other. CONSTITUTION:A diffuser shell 2 and a closure shell 3 are jointed with each other by electronic welding and a joint member 38. This joint member 38b is a cylindrical member, has an engagement part 38a on its one end side and has a caulking part 38 on the other end side. Additionally, a flange part 26 extending in the radial direction is formed on the outer peripheral surface on the opposite side of the engagement part 38a of this joint member 38. The joint member 38 has an inside circumferential surface 39 free to fit on the outer peripheral surface of a closure shell outer cylindrical part and a stepped part 34, the engagement part 38a is projected against this side circumferential surface 39 and forms a ring projection and is engaged with the stepped part 34. Additionally, the caulking part 38b is caulked and fixed on a stepped part 35.

A plural number of exhaust ports of gas are drilled in the circumferential direction with equal intervals on the base part of the peripheral wall part 2b so as to position differently with an opening 11.

    • PURPOSE:To ignite an air bag igniter without fail in a simple and miniature structure by generating electricity with a piezoelectric element when detecting an external impact, igniting a gapped electric detonator, and thereby igniting a gas generating agent with an inflaming agent. CONSTITUTION:When an automobile receives an impact due to a crash accident or the like, an impact sensor 1 operates. In brief, an impact detecting body 7 in this censor 1 moves against a plate spring 6, thereby colliding with a piezoelectric element 9. If so, since this element 9 generates an electric charge owing to an piezoelectric effect, this electric charge is transmitted to a code 10, and collected in one side electrode 20 in a gapped electric detonator 2 via a pin 8. Accordingly, a potential difference is produced between both electrodes 20 and 22 in this gapped electric detonator 2, and when this potential difference exceeds the extent of resisting pressure of an insulator 21, electric discharge is produced there, and a priming charge 23 is ignited. In consequence, an inflaming agent 3 and a gas generating agent 4 both are ignited, while lastly combustion gas is spouted out of an opening, spreading an air bag.

The first chamber 22 is positioned in the lower half part of the housing and axially long and a lower part is released and communicated at the side with a combustion chamber 5. The coolant chamber 24 is formed adjacently to the first chamber 22 and formed approximately in an inverted U-shape so that the flow of gas is varied. A coolant 13 is disposed in the coolant chamber in a state to extend from the outlet of the first chamber 22 to a position above the first chamber 22.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate a cushion between a transfer charge container and a ceiling wall part at an ignition means housing chamber, and thereby enhance thermal conduction by making the cover or the cup bottom part of the transfer charge container a convex shape curved outwardly, and thereby elastically holding the transfer charge container between the ceiling part of the ignition means housing chamber and an ignitor. SOLUTION: In the gas generator, an ignitor 6, transfer charge 12 and a transfer charge container 7 filled with automatic igniting material, are disposed in the inside of an ignition means housing chamber 3 partitioned in a housing 2. The transfer charge container 7 made out of a cup and a cover, makes its cover buttom surface a convex shape curved outwardly when the cover is mounted onto the cup. And when both the transfer charge container 7 and the ignitor 6 are assembled with the gas generator, the deflection of the cover buttom surface due to the pressing force of the head part 26 of the ignitor thereby allows elastic force to be applied to the ceiling wall part of the ignition means housing chamber 3 and the ignitor 6, no cushion is thereby required by the transfer charge container 7, and it is elstically held between the ceiling wall part and the ignitor 6.
