      CONSTITUTION: A four-wheel drive automatic transmission 1 consists of a main transmission 10 and a sub-transmission 40, which is installed in a transfer case 2. An oil pan 4 is fastened to the bottom face of the transfer case 2 and a valve body 5 having a hydraulic pressure controlling device which controls the feeding and draining of a working fluid to and from each of hydraulic servos B-4, C-3, C-4, is fastened to the inside of the oil pan 4. The drain ports of the hydraulic servos C-3, C-4 are not provided on the valve body 5 and, instead, a drain oil is made to be discharged to the main transmission 10 side, from the valve body 5, through an oil passage 9 provided on the front support wall 2A of the transfer case 2, and via a drain port 91 opening in the open air on the main transmission 10 side.

    • PURPOSE:To improve the durability of an overdriving planetary gear, by checking the gear shifting of a main transmission to its high speed step in the case where a sub-transmission is in a low speed step. CONSTITUTION:A transfer hydraulic control unit 200 is constituted of first and second solenoid valves 210 and 220, a selector valve 230, an inhibitor valve 240, a down-shift timing valve 260, a direct-connected oil passage 201 to be connected to a hydraulic servo C-3 of a multiple-disc clutch C3, a decelerating oil passage 202 to be connected to a hydraulic servo B-4 of a multiple-disc clutch B4, a four-wheel driving oil passage 203, and check valves 310, 320 and 330. When a shift step of a sub-transmission comes to a low-speed step, these first and second solenoid valves 210 and 220 are controlled, feeding the hydraulic servo B-4 with hydraulic pressure, whereby gear shifting of a main transmission to its high speed step is checked. With this constitution, an overdriving planetary gear will in no case come to rotation at high speed so that durability in the gear is well improved.

An inner peripheral groove 4c of the support part forms an inner peripheral oil passage 4D, the inner peripheral side of which is covered with a sleeve 6 and through which working oil flows. This constitution facilitates formation of the ring grooves 7B and 7C, and enables selection of the material of the inner and outer peripheral sleeves 6 and 7 depending upon the material of the seal ring.
