    • PURPOSE:To lower a bonnet hood line of a vehicle by reducing the total height of a V-type engine, keeping a passage cross-sectional area of a connecting pipe constant, utilize a resonance effect to the maximum extent when the first and the second surge tanks are connected to each other by the connecting pipe, and eliminate the possibility of deteriorating engine performance. CONSTITUTION:In midway of an intake air passage downstream from a throttle valve of an intake device of a V type engine is branched off by a branch pipe, an the first and the second branch passages are arranged, and one end side of the first and the second surge tanks are connected respectively to the downstream end parts of these first and second branch passage, and a connecting pipe 26 is arranged to connect these first and the second surge tanks to each other, and an intake air pipe 28 connected to a throttle body upstream of the branch pipe is arranged under the connecting pipe 26 so as to cross each other, and the recessed part 30 is formed in the upper part of the intake air pipe 28 in the crossing part, and a passage width of the connecting pipe 26 in the crossing part is made large, and a passage height is made small.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain a suction inertial effect sufficiently, and to improve the engine output, by providing the front engine block and the rear engine block having crankshafts orthogonal to a car body, in a V-shape, arranging carburetters between both blocks, while making the center lines of reed valves and cylinders offset to the axial direction of the crankshafts. CONSTITUTION:The front engine block 25F which consists of the first and the second cylinders 24a and 24b; and the rear engine block 25R which consist5 of the third and the fourth cylinders 24c and 24d; are provided in V-shape each other, and set in the longitudinal direction of a car body. Crankshafts 26a and 26b drive a pilot shaft. Reed valves 28a are provided to the opposing surfaces of the cylinders respectively, and the center lines CL1 of the reed valves 28a, and the center lines CL2 of the cylinders are offset r to the axial directions of the crankshafts 26a and 26b, and they are combined to carburetters 28b through intake pipes 28 respectively. By such a constitution, the forms of the suction passages in the intake pipes 28c are made smooth, and a suction inertial effect can be obtained sufficiently.

    • PURPOSE:To eliminate torque valley (output reduction) at the time of comparatively low speed rotation by branching and opening an air mixture gas in/out branch pipe whose one end is closed, in the vicinity of an intake valve between the throttle valve and the intake valve of the intake passage of an engine, and conserving fluid motion inertia. CONSTITUTION:An intake valve 21 and an exhaust valve 22 are provided on the upper part of a combustion chamber 4 in an engine main body 1, and an intake passage 7 and an exhaust passage 9 are communicated thereto. The intake passage 7 is communicated with the throttle valve 14 of a carburetor 15 through a spacer 13. An air fuel mixture in/out branch pipe 18 is constituted in such a way that a pipe 16 is installed on the spacer 13, and a pipe 17 whose one end is closed is connected to the top end of the pipe 16. In a position where the air-fuel mixture in/out branch pipe 18 is opened to the intake passage 7, its cross sectional area is set to the minimum level, and the cross sectional area of the pipe 17 is set to a level a little larger than that. Since it is possible to make an air column in the branch pipe 18 resonant with some comparatively low speed engine rotating speed, flow motion inertia is conserved by resonance after the intake valve 21 is closed, even if the throttle valve 14 is in a low opening range. It is thus possible to eliminate reduction of engine output at the time of comparatively low speed rotation.
