摘要： PURPOSE:To make it possible to screw a cap on a container mouth with a great clamping force while preventing the cap from being deformed, even when the cap is flexible, by a method wherein air pressure to be fed to the pressure chamber of an air chuck is controlled in such a manner that it is small when the air chuck grips a cap, and it is large when the cap is screwed on a container mouth. CONSTITUTION:When a capping head 6 becomes located above an entrance star wheel 45, the capping head 6 is lowered, and a cap 27 is relatively inserted in an air chuck 22 of the capping head 6, and an on-off valve for low pressure 33L is fastened to a can for low pressure 43L and opened. Therefore, air with low pressure is fed in a pressure chamber 24 of the air chuck 22 through a low pressure passage 32L, and the cap 27 is lightly gripped. When the cap 27 is fitted on the outer periphery of a container mouth, since the capping head 6 is always rotated, screwing of the cap 27 to the container mouth is started, and the on-off valve for low pressure 33L separates from the cam for low pressure 43L and closed, and then an on-off valve for high pressure 33H is fastened to a can for high pressure 43H and opened.
