    • PURPOSE: To obtain a carbon monoxide converting catalyst having high activity and enhanced durability, by supporting catalytic components based on iron and chromium by a carrier comprising porous heat resistant zeolite.
      CONSTITUTION: A honeycomb like or hollow cylindrical porous heat resistant zeolite carrier is immersed in a liquid mixture containing iron nitrate and chromium nitrate and the impregnated carrier is baked at 200W350°C to prepare a carbon monoxide converting catalyst. As the aforementioned zeolite, not only a natural product but also a synthetic one such as Y type or A-type zeolite different in a crystal structure can be used and, to the molding thereof, technique such as the extrusion molding of a honeycomb shape or the lamination molding by a corrugate machine can be adapted. As the method for supporting the catalytic components, a method, wherein a zeolite carrier is immersed in a solution of iron nitrate and chromium nitrate to support both nitrates and the impregnated carrier is immersed in aqueous ammonia in a wet state, can be adapted.
