    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable continuation of a stable control even in case of an abnormality in a sensor or in an object detected by the sensor (scale pattern) without increasing the number of sensors and to prevent a stoppage of device operation or the like at low cost. SOLUTION: Control signals include a signal (first signal) by a surface sensor for reading a scale provided on a rotator (belt or drum) and a signal (second signal) from a motor shaft encoder. The rotator is driven based on the signal from the motor shaft encoder. When the feedback signal is changed from the second signal to the first signal at an optional time, whether or not abnormality is present in the surface sensor is determined. When the surface sensor has no abnormality, a control means selects the first signal as the feedback signal, and the rotator is driven based on the first signal. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for easily judging an abnormal semiconductor laser.
SOLUTION: In the image recording apparatus to scan and expose a recording medium with a laser beam emitting from a fiber-coupled semiconductor laser, the laser light quantity on the recording surface of the recording medium is detected by continuously lighting the semiconductor laser for a sufficiently long time. The light quantity of the semiconductor laser is controlled, the driving current of the semiconductor laser is determined, the semiconductor laser is lightened in accordance with specified pattern signals by the driving current, and the average light quantity of the laser on the recording surface is measured. When the proportion of the difference between the laser light quantity for continuous lighting and the average light quantity exceeds a specified range, the semiconductor laser is discriminated as abnormal.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma etching system by which a variance in shape is reduced as much as possible when the shape of a diffraction lens having a prescribed height or more is formed as a multi-wavelength compatible lens, and the diffraction lens with high precision can be formed, to provide a method of producing a matrix used for a die for forming an optical element, to provide a die for forming an optical element, to provide a method of producing an optical element, and to provide an optical element. SOLUTION: The method for producing a matrix used for a die for forming an optical element comprises: a shape working stage where a resist layer arranged on a base material is worked so as to be in a prescribed shape; a plasma generation stage where plasma particles are generated; and a plasma control stage where the value of bias voltage is controlled based on an etching selective ratio as a ratio between the height of the shape of the resist layer formed by the shape working stage and the height of a desired shape formed on the surface of the base material, the bias voltage is applied to the base material so that the plasma particles are made to go straight to the surface of the base material so as to be made incident, and further, the bias voltage is detected to control the bias voltage so as to be made almost fixed. • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet material fixing device for fixing tightly a sheet material to an arranging member.
SOLUTION: In an exposure part 18, when a mounting lever 42 is mounted in a mounting groove 40 and a rear end chuck 36 is mounted on a peripheral surface of a rotary drum 24, a pressing plate 46 presses a printing plate 12 on the peripheral surface of the rotary drum 24 so that the printing plate 12 is fixed on the peripheral surface of the rotary drum 24 in a manner that an arm 48 presses the rotary drum 24 to press the rear end chuck 36 on a reverse rotary drum 24 side. A direction of a reaction F acted from the rotary drum 24 in consequence of pressing the rotary drum 24 by the arm 48 is toward an reverse circular arc R side against a tangent line L at a pressure position B of a circular arc R passing through the pressure position B of the rotary drum 24 by the arm 48 with a pressure position A of the printing plate 12 by the pressing plate 46 as a center. Accordingly, the rear end chuck 36 can pull the printing plate 12 by the reaction F and fix tightly the printing plate 12 on the peripheral surface of the rotary drum 24.
