    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate good homogeneous fuel/air mixture without diluting engine oil, in a cylinder injection type spark ignition internal combustion engine for performing homogeneous combustion.
      SOLUTION: The cylinder injection type spark ignition internal combustion engine injects fuel with a fuel injection valve 2 arranged around the upper part of the cylinder to generate the homogeneous fuel/air mixture. The fuel injection valve injects fan-like fuel spray spreading mainly in the width direction W into the whole cylinder of last half of an intake process so that the center plane in the thickness direction of the fan-like fuel spray is substantially parallel with the center axis C of the cylinder, and a penetration force in the upper part of the fan-like fuel spray is weakened compared with the lower part of the fan-like fuel spray.

    • PURPOSE:To produce turbulance timed with combustion by arranging a high pressure gas generator containing two pistons driven through a cam and hydraulic pressure in the cylinder. CONSTITUTION:In a high pressure gas generator 2, when an intermediate pressure gas feed valve 15 is closed a drive cam 22 rotates to lift pistons P1, P2 so as to increase the pressure in a compression chamber 10, and when the pistons reach to dead center an oil pressure feed valve 27 is released. Consequently, the piston P1 interlocked with the cam 22 lowers but the piston P2 is pushed up by the working oil fed from a hydraulic pump 25 to increase the pressure in the compression chamber 10 furthermore and the pressure reaches subsequently to the maximum level. The time to be elapsed after the pressure reaches to the maximum level until a discharge valve 28 opens is the interval during which a pressure regulation valve 7 takes in high pressure gas, and the high pressure gas is injected subsequently into the combustion chamber of engine through a high pressure gas valve. When the discharge valve 28 is released, the piston P2 lowers and the piston P2 interlocked with the piston P1 lowers furthermore even upon closure of the discharge valve 28 thus finishing expansion stroke.
