    • PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of a vortex in a pressure generation chamber while simply excluding air bubbles in the pressure generation chamber by ejecting the ink of a common ink chamber at high speed from a passage restricting orifice to allow the same to flow through the relatively long first communication hole provided between the common ink chamber and the pressure generation chamber in a horizontal direction and converting the ink stream to laminar flow in this process to allow the same to flow in the pressure generation chamber. CONSTITUTION:An elastic plate 2 having a piezoelectric vibration plate 3 on its surface, a pressure generation chamber forming member 7 forming a pressure generation chamber 4, a lid member 8 equipped with the first and second communication holes 9, 10 communicating with both end parts of the pressure generation chamber 4, a passage restricting plate 11 having a passage resticting hole 12 for imparting a passage resistance to the ink supply passage communicating with the chamber 4, a common ink chamber forming plate 18 equipped with a common ink chamber 19 communicating with the pressure generation chamber 4 through the passage restricting hole 12 and a nozzle plate 23 equipped with the nozzle orifices 24 connected to the chamber 4 are successively laminated to be integrally molded. The communication hole 10 is formed so that one end thereof is opposed to one end of the pressure generation chamber 4 and the other end thereof is positioned outside the pressure generation chamber 4.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent a pressure generating member and electrode from being broken due to contact with an ink by a method wherein a pressure generating member has an elastic material and piezoelectric material for the constituent elements, and the ink contact surface of the pressure generating member is covered by a coating material. CONSTITUTION:A coating material 44 such as epoxy, silicone, etc., is applied to cover a common electrode 26 and an electrode take-out port 40. Voltage is added to an elastic material 16 and the common electrode 26, and a piezoelectric material 12 is stretched/contracted. In this case, change in size does not take place for the elastic material 16, and therefore, strain is generated, and warping is generated in pressure generating members which include both the piezoelectric material 12 and the elastic material 16. For this reason, pressure is added to a cavity 26, and an ink is discharged from a nozzle 22. Also, the ink is fed from an ink tank 24 through an ink feeding passage 14. By covering the pressure generating members with a moisture resistant coating material, since they are insulated, the pressure generating members are prevented from being broken due to contact with the ink, and a stable discharging characteristic property can be obtained.

    • PURPOSE:To maintain a sufficient speed and amount of ink drops delivered even if a highly dense nozzle is formed by a method wherein the structure of a pressure producing member is made of a resilient material and a piezoelectric material and nozzles are arranged in a rhombic form. CONSTITUTION:A piezoelectric material 12 with Au or nichrome film formed thereon by spattering is formed as a common electrode 26 at the upper part of a cavity 18 on the side facing toward the same. On its top-part, 8 resilient member 16 is formed and, by applying voltage to the resilient material 16 and the common electrode 26, a pressure is produced in a pressure producing member 20 being the laminated material of the piezoelectric material 12 and the resilient material 16, whereby the pressure of an ink in the cavity 18 is raised to deliver the ink from nozzles 22. The ink is supplied from an ink tank 24 through an ink passage 14. By making the nozzle dense highly in this way without reducing the size of the pressure producing member, printing quality can be improved with a sufficient power maintained.

    • PURPOSE:To form a piezoelectric element array best suited for its arrangement in an ink tank and thereby generate ink droplets capable of adequate scattering at a progressively low voltage by arranging a partition member which is longer than a piezoelectric element between piezoelectric elements up to a nozzle plate, and filling a gap between the piezoelectric element and the partition member with an elastic resin. CONSTITUTION:A gap between partition members 10, 10, 10... and piezoelectric elements 12, 12, 12... is filled with an elastic resin 14. An independent cable 26 is connected to an external conductive layer 60 to which one of electrodes of the piezoelectric element 12 is connected. On the other hand, a common lead member is connected to an external conductive layer 62 to which the other electrode is connected. If an electric signal is applied to an area between an independent cable 26 and a common lead member, piezoelectric materials 34, 34, 34... between electrodes become elongated simultaneously and the displacements of the piezoelectric materials in each layer are added together to allow displacement of a free end 12a side in 'x' direction. As the layer thickness of the piezoelectric material is extremely small, a voltage to be applied to an area between the electrodes 30, 32 has only to be very low. In addition, the mechanical strength of the piezoelectric element can be supplemented and the scattering of ink droplets can be stabilized.

    • PURPOSE:To make it possible to print colors in full at a low cost by using piezoelectric material having electrodes on the surface thereof as a pressure generating member, providing piezoelectric charging means constituted of means for exciting the piezoelec tric material at a natural period of a thickness oscillation thereof and means for controlling the excitation frequency of the thickness oscillation of the piezoelectric material. CONSTITUTION:A piezoelectric material 30 is layered on a base board 10, a common electrode 32 is arranged therebetween, and drive electrodes 31 are arranged crosswise. Nozzles 21 formed on a nozzle plate 20 are arranged on the piezoelectric material 30 so as to face activating areas 33. The space between the nozzle plate 20 and the piezoelectric material 30 is several tens mum being filled with an ink 40. When a voltage is charged to the active part 33 at the same period as the natural period of the active part 33 of the piezoelectric material 30 by only a half time thereof, the active part 33 makes a displacement. The natural period of the active part 33 becomes longer than that of other parts of the piezoelectric body by a rate that the electrodes are attached to both sides. As a result, the oscillation of the active part 33 is sealed only at the place of the active place 33 and only this part can selectively be oscillated, so that the quantity of an ink drip 41 can be controlled.
