    • PURPOSE:To prevent any overcurrent from running in while reducing the IC breakdown by a method wherein a current limiting means substantially cutting off a power supply or limiting current is provided between the power supply and an inner circuit in IC in case the power supply is subjected to any polarity inversion. CONSTITUTION:A current limiting means is composed of a transistor T connected to a base and an emitter E as well as a P type resistance layer formed in an N type island region on a P type substrate. When power supply VCC is in normal polarity, TQ1 actuates the emitter E and a collector C in the reverse direction while a constant voltage circuit 1 is supplied with power supply current to supply TQ2 with bias voltage by a Zener diode ZD for supplying the reference voltage Vref divided by R2, R3. Furthermore, when the power supply VCC is erroneously connected, the TQ1 reaches non conductive state due to zero bias between the base B and emitter E of TQ1 so that the constant voltage circuit 1 may be supplied with no overcurrent to protect IC without fail.

    • PURPOSE:To control a motor at high efficiency and low power consumption by controlling the energizing sequence on the basis of a rotating position detection signal and the energizing time on the basis of the rotating position detection signal and a control voltage. CONSTITUTION:Rotating position detection signals from Hall elements H1-H3 are supplied through voltage/current converters 2-4 to a matrix circuit 5. The matrix circuit 5 outputs a drive signal to drive circuits 6-8 in response to the input signal. A zero cross position detector 1 conducts a transistor Q21 at every zero crossing position of the position detection signals Uv-Wv and generates a sawtooth voltage Vs from a capacitor C1. A voltage comparator 12 compares the rotating speed control voltage Vc' with the voltage Vs and controls the energizing time of the drive circuits 6-8.
