    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composition having remarkable vasodepressor activity and excellent gustatory using barley Shochu distillation residual liquid which is a by-product in a manufacturing process of Shochu (distilled alcoholic drink in Japan) made from barley. SOLUTION: This composition comprises a non-adsorptive fraction which is collected via an adsorption/separation treatment using a synthetic adsorbent, of a liquid fraction obtained by subjecting the distillation residual liquid of barley Shochu which is a by-product in a manufacturing process of Shochu made from barley to solid-liquid separation. The non-adsorptive fraction contains several kinds of peptides having an average chain length of 3.0 to 5.0, and the amino acids of these peptides are composed of 24 to 38% of glutamic acid, 4 to 20% of glycine, 5 to 10% of aspartic acid, 4 to 9% of proline and 4 to 8% of serine in 100% of the total content of the amino acids derived from the peptides.
