    • PURPOSE:To detect the damage position of a corrosion-proof film with high accuracy, by applying AC voltage with specific frequency between a metal pipe embedded in the ground in a state coated with a corrosion-proof film and an opposed electrode and detecting potential difference of the surface of the earth by two wheel electrodes of a detection apparatus. CONSTITUTION:A metal pipe 2, to which a corrosion-proof film 1 was applied, is embedded in the ground and AC voltage with signal frequency of 1-19Hz is applied between the metal pipe 2 and an opposed electrode 6 by a transmission apparatus 7. Two wheeled electrodes 8 comprising conductive sponge rubber are provided to a detection apparatus 12 and the direction of the wheel electrodes 8 are arranged in the longitudinal direction of the metal pipe 2. The earth's surface potential generated between the wheel electrodes 8 is detected by a display apparatus 11 through a filter 9 and an amplifier 10. Because AC voltage with specific signal frequency is applied and commercial frequency or noise of the other AC or DC component is removed from the detected earth's surface potential to detect a wave from the detected earth's surface potential to detect a wave form pattern, the damage position of the corrosion- proof film can be easily detected.

    • PURPOSE:To contrive improvement of detection accuracy, by applying a signal voltage of an order of 1-10Hz between a pipe covered with anti-corrosion substance being buried in the ground and an opposedly installed electrode also embedded in the ground, and detecting a position where the minimum value of two maximum values of ground surface electric potential differences is indicated in an indicator. CONSTITUTION:A signal voltage of an order of 1-10Hz is applied between a metallic pipe 2 covered on its surface with anti-corrosion substance and buried in the ground and an electrode positioned opposedly to the pipe and embedded in the ground also, and a detecting apparatus 7 provided with two electrodes 4 arranged with the specified distance apart along the longitudinal direction of the pipe 2, filter 5 and indicator 6 is made to travel along the ground surface just above the pipe 2. Further, a potential difference of the two points on the ground surface just above the pipe 2 is detected continuously and noises of DC- and AC-portions contained in a detecting signal emitted from the filter 5 and noise of the detecting signal are removed and thus, a position of the minimum value between two positions, where the ground surface potential difference shown in the apparatus 6 is indicated as maximum, is detected and accurate location of the damaged position of the pipe 2 is made available.
