    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a quality control method in vacuum carburizing where the quality in carburizing can be controlled by controlling a carburizing depth to a work, reproducibility is improved by obtaining a desired carburizing depth, variation in carburizing quality is reduced, so as to secure its uniformity, and the control of carburizing quality can be easily performed, and to provide a vacuum carburizing furnace.
      SOLUTION: The vacuum carburizing furnace 10 is provided with: hydrogen partial pressure detection means (30, 32, 34) where a hydrogen partial pressure ratio to the whole pressure in a treating chamber 17 upon carburizing treatment is detected; an operation treating means (34) where treatment is performed in such a manner that, based on the time change of the hydrogen partial pressure ratio, a carbon inflow rate Ci(t) to the work 1 is found, and, based on the carbon inflow rate Ci(t), the estimate of the carburizing depth in the work 1 is found; and output means (36, 38) where the carburizing depth of the work 1 found by the operation treating means is displayed.

      SOLUTION: In accordance with the carburizing depth and surface carbon concentration required for a work, based on the diffusion of carbon into the work, the time change of the theoretical flow rate of the carburizing gas required for carburizing treatment is found, based on the time change of the theoretical flow rate, the partial pressure ratio of hydrogen produced by carburizing reaction in the theoretical flow rate to the whole pressure in a treating chamber is regarded as a theoretical hydrogen partial pressure ratio, the time change of the theoretical hydrogen partial pressure ratio is found, the time change of the theoretical hydrogen partial pressure ratio and the time change of the hydrogen partial pressure ratio to the whole pressure in the treating chamber upon actual carburizing treatment are compared, and, based on their approximate degree, the degree of the variation in the carburizing quality in the same operation batch is judged.
