摘要： PURPOSE:To continuously read the print pictures even in case a compression process is prolonged by reducing the reading speed down to 1/n to read the print pictures and compressing and storing the continuous picture data of (n) lines after thinning the picture data of (n-1) lines in case the compression process is delayed. CONSTITUTION:In a picture input device the picture data received from a picture input unit 1 is inputted to a secondary scan thinning circuit 5 via a changeover switch SW1 and then to a buffer A or B or inputted directly to the buffer A or B via a bypass. The picture data inputted to the circuit 5 is supplied to the buffer A or B after the picture data of (n-1) lines are thinned out of the continuous picture data of (n) lines (n: integer of >=2). Thus a compression error if produced is detected and only the secondary scan feed speed of a scanner is reduced to read the print pictures again. Then the prescribed picture data is obtained after a prescribed line is thinned. Thus, the time required for the thinning job can be used to the compression process.
